One evening, I was peacefully studying in my room because I had an important test the next day. I was so engrossed in my studies that I could not hear the noise of people shouting fire! fire! outside my house. My sister entered my room and told me that a home in our neighbourhood had caught fire. I panicked and screamed. We rushed outside along with my mother and father to help our neighbour. The entire community were pouring buckets of water and dry sand to extinguish the fire. Many even tried to cover some area of the house by a blanket to control fire, but it was blazing. The view was horrifying.
People were trying relentlessly to put out the fire but to no avail. The fire brigade was taking a lot of time to arrive on the spot because of which the fire caused considerable damage to the house. Since the house was a three-storey structure, the inmates were trapped on the third storey and were crying for help. Their lives were in danger as the flames were encroaching them rapidly. We were helpless and at a loss to help the victims who were screaming for help. All of us were praying and waiting anxiously for the fire brigade.
Meanwhile, the fire brigade turned up. People took a sigh of relief. The secretary of that area explained the scenario and efforts made to extinguish the fire to the staff. They acted immediately and bravely terminated the fierce flames. A staircase was set to save the inmates from the third-storey and was successfully brought down. The inmates suffered minor burn injuries because the fire was out of control, and they had no escape. They were rushed to the hospital. Though their furniture, plants, valuable articles were burnt to ashes, the family was luckily rescued, and not a single life was lost.

A fire is a chemical reaction that provides light and heat. It is a prominent factor which contributes to the development of human civilization. It has helped humanity in several ways, such as to cook food, to run factories and keep them warm during winters.
Though it possesses useful characteristics, it also exhibits destructive nature which causes houses, trees, plants and many other things to burn into ashes. Every year, many people die in fire accidents as they are not equipped with the correct knowledge to act during a fire. They panic, lose control and eventually give up during a fire break.
On a similar note, I would like to share a fire incidence that shook me and still gives goosebumps whenever I recall that particular incident. It was a Saturday midnight when the entire surrounding was enveloped in deep silence. I was fast asleep and engrossed in my fantasy world. Suddenly, I was awakened by a loud noise and scream outside my house. As I peeped outside the house, I saw people running on the streets shouting with fear. I, along with my family, rushed outside to see what had happened.
As soon as I reached, I realized that my friend Sonam’s house was on fire. The entire house was blazing with wildfire. Since, the house was a two-storey structure, my friend and her family were stuck on the second floor who was in tears and helpless. The flames of fire were so fierce that it leapt to the sky, creating the clouds of smoke. The family was pleading people to save them and call for a fire brigade service.
People just couldn’t wait till the fire brigade’s arrival and acted immediately by pouring buckets of water, throwing dry sand and covering small areas with a blanket to put out the fire. I too joined them and through sign language tried to pacify my friend to have hope. We all tried our best to extinguish the fire, but all our efforts proved futile. Then, the fire brigade arrived and immediately started working to control it and save the family.
The crew members divided themselves into extinguishers and rescuers. We all breathe a sigh of relief. A large water pipe was used to douse the house, and a ladder was used to save the family. It took two hours to control the fire. Finally, they were rescued safely, and the fire was put out. I was relieved and happy to see my friend and her family alive. We hugged each other and smiled with tears. They were rushed to the hospital.
Through the investigation, it was evident that the servant left the gas burner on and forgot to switch it off and left for the day. At the same moment, the lights went out. So, the father came downstairs in the kitchen to burn a candle.

Such incidents leave a devastating impact physically and emotionally on human beings. Therefore, it is essential to stay vigilant and active to keep away from such fatal events. Moreover, when such an episode’s strike, it is necessary to act wisely, instead of panic.
At times like this, it is mandatory to stay optimistic and face it boldly without any fear because the situation demands to be proactive and alert.
