Paragraph on Air Pollution: Air pollution has become a grave problem that leads to environmental degradation at a faster rate. Due to the construction of factories and industries, the smoke released into the atmosphere causes harmful diseases like asthma, bronchitis, cough and cold and skin infections. The lungs gradually become weak, making it impossible to breathe in the open air. The cities face more problems than the villages because of the usage of cars, harmful chemicals, and burning of garbage.
Short Paragraph on Air Pollution
Air pollution is an amalgamation of harmful gases and chemicals in the air. It is also referred to as the contamination of air by hazardous gases, dust and smoke that affects humans, animals and plants. Air is an essential gift bestowed upon us from Mother Earth because it contains the life-supporting gas called oxygen. Without this gas, survival seems impossible and eco-system degraded. The significant contribution to pollution is the industries that discharge harmful pollutants into the air.
Another deadly source is vehicle emissions that include heavy trucks, cars, aeroplanes, shipping vessels and trains. Private transportation and our lifestyle contribute more carbon-dioxide emission into the atmosphere than other activities. The vital life force called trees are being cut down every second, leading to deforestation. Forests are like sponges that absorb carbon-dioxide and give out oxygen. In such cases, when trees are cut, or jungles are burned, then the reserve area of carbon-dioxide is automatically removed.
With the increasing pollution day by day, it is affecting humans on a larger scale. The accumulated polluted air causes dangerous diseases such as asthma, bronchitis, lung failure, skin rashes, cough and cold etc. Apart from this, it will further pave a way to global warming, droughts and storms.
When the effects reach the extremities level, then irreversible measures won’t work, and the environment will deteriorate. Methods like carpooling, using public transportation, keeping cars, boat and other engines adequately tuned can be adopted to minimize the pollution. Also, the burning of garbage and cutting of trees should be stopped. Through such measures, we can eliminate air pollution and create a happy place to survive.
Long Paragraph on Air Pollution
Air pollution refers to the release of pollutants into the air that is pernicious to humans, plants and animals. In other words, it is the contamination of the atmosphere due to the discharge of harmful toxins and products into the environment. The toxic pollutants disrupt the balance of eco-system, thus creating unhealthy conditions to sustain.
There are human-made and natural reasons that cause pollution. Natural forms cause naturally due to constant change and climatic variations. In areas where there is no vegetation and are mainly dry due to scanty rainfall, wind creates natural dust storms. When this storm gets added to the air, it can prove hazardous to creatures and humans. Moreover, wildfires in wooden areas where we witness prolong dry periods occur because of lack of precipitation.
The smoke caused due to such fire contributes to carbon levels in the atmosphere further aggravating the greenhouse gas effect. Furthermore, volcanic eruptions are considered the primary source of air pollution because it produces a tremendous amount of harmful substances dispersed by wind over large areas. Vegetation such as black gum, oak and willow trees emit organic compounds on warmer days which later forms low-lying seasonal hazes.
Apart from natural, we also have human-made causes contributing significantly to air pollution due to the dependence on fossil fuels, heavy industries, modern agriculture methods, and waste accumulation. The combustion of fossil fuel and other combustibles used in power plants, manufacturing units, furnaces, waste incinerators and fuel-burning heating devices pollute the air at a massive level. Usage of air-conditioners, refrigerators, CFC’s leads to more emissions.
The transportation accounts for more than half of the carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxides into the air. Landfills generate methane which is highly inflammable and fatal if the landfill goes unchecked. Another main reason is population growth and increased urbanization which leads to more dumping grounds and waste accumulation. Also, deforestation is causing environmental degradation, which affects the quality of air.
The polluted and contaminated air becomes unfit and unhealthy to breathe. People get affected by diseases such as pneumonia, bronchitis, irritation to nose, throat, eyes and skin. Also, the pollution causes headaches, nausea and dizziness. Moreover, humans even experience heart disease, lung cancer, liver failure and nerve damage. Not only humans but animals and plants also get affected. The crops suffer because air pollution contaminates the surface of water and soil. Moreover, animal’s reproductive rates have fallen to the extent that our wildlife faces the extinction of many species.
To restore balance and reduce pollution, we can collectively adopt sustainable measures to ease the effects of harmful pollutants. Incorporating recycling and reusing items will generate less waste, and practising carpooling will emit fewer gases. Avoiding aerosol cans, CFC’s, burning garbage and smoking can ensure positive results gradually. If such solutions are adopted, eventually, we will have a healthy earth to live in, and nature would breathe fresh and pure air.
