An ideal student is the one who embodies all the three H-Head, Heart and Hand, meaning whose core is intact intellectually, emotionally and physically. The character and conduct they manifest are meritorious.
There is a uniform balance between studies and leisure. Productivity is at the apex in all circumstances. An ideal student possesses lively and good habits.
Qualities of an Ideal Student
Punctuality: A perfect student not only respects but also values other people time and commitment. Time management is one of the best qualities they inhibit and adhere to. They have a firm conviction that punctuality is a ladder to success and provides excellent admiration and respect in society. An ideal student self-introspect once they receive recognition and always follow the path of virtue. They are conditioned to be on or before time no matter what.
Ambitious: He/she is a dreamer who strongly believes in purpose and ambition and wishes to achieve them one day. It is just not their fantasy but a goal for which a road map is created to fulfil those within a certain period of time. They always thrive on self-belief and keep marching ahead with their robust energy.
Creativity: They are not imaginative but creative. Ideas that pop in their heads are penned down and put to better use. Creativity forms the basis for increasing knowledge. It encourages the brain to think out of the box and find solutions to the problems.
Rational thinking: A systematic and scientific approach is applied to draw conclusions and find solutions. The decisions taken are purely based on logic and reasoning. Superstitions and delusion do not form a part of their life as they follow a reasonable attitude.
Obedient: They are respectful and dutiful towards their parents, elders and teachers. Also, friends and subordinates get treated with respect. This is a trait which is highly visible among the students as it is valuable. Obedience receives immense recognition and importance from them because it is observed as a high quality to achieve success and to avoid conflicts.
Empathetic: Negativity, projection and judgement do not cloud their emotional quotient, because they show compassion and care for others. They believe in forgiveness, do not dwell in the past and loathes vengeful behaviour. They are considerate and always offer helping hand to the needy.
Disciplined: It is an act of living with defined norms and principles. An ideal student wakes up early, completes the homework and equally distributes time to leisure and studies. The mind, body and soul are entirely in sync with each other to perform tasks smoothly. The mundane routine is carried out swiftly without complaining. They carry out every work assigned responsibly and are accountable for their family and school.
Attentive: Attentiveness is an act of expressing respect and love for others. It runs parallel with empathy. Being observant means listening and noticing things around attentively and responding to them carefully. An ideal student is attentive in class and focuses on the lessons taught by teachers and elders. Furthermore, the lessons learnt are applied later in life.
Desire to improve: There is always a hunger to learn more, and a quest for discovery prevails. Mistakes get converted into teachings as they are considered to be the building blocks of success. There is always a room present for improvisation. Such students inhibit inquisitive nature as they believe that learning is a life long process, and one should keep on educating themselves.
Devotedness: Dedication and perseverance run in their blood as they are ceaselessly motivated to do everything in an organized manner. Any work taken gets completed with devotion and hard work. They possess a high intensity of will power.
Our historical personalities and leaders have laid the foundation for an ideal student. Their characteristics were distinctive, and they displayed exemplary behaviour. Their powerful messages have carved a niche in the minds of the young. Such qualities and traits motivate and drive children gear towards positive transformation.
Family plays a pivotal role in providing a stimulating environment so that the child develops self-confidence. Praising their small achievements, builds their self-esteem and morale. A new surge of energy flows in them for better growth and development.
Teacher, on the other hand, is looked up as a role model and a facilitator. Their guidance assists children to be cautious of their actions. A significant portion of childhood is spent in schools where children get educated to follow certain principles, and their overall personality gets shaped in a structured manner.
They develop an understanding and cordial relationship with their peers and learn to live with harmony. The most important and essential quality called ‘teamwork‘ is best learnt in school as teachers allocate tasks which are expected to be finished as a team. Moreover, children regard other people’s opinion and suggestion. They welcome differences and are open to new ideas and innovation.
An ideal student is not a perfect one but has a dynamic and vibrant personality. As rightly quoted by Carl David Anderson, “An ideal student would be one who was not working for grades but was working because he was interested in work and not trying to compete with the fellow students.”
This means that an ideal student does not believe in competing with others but himself/herself. They do not study for grades or marks but for their overall growth.
The two evil–ego and attitude are never promoted and followed. He/she gives credit to the teachers and parents for their notable contribution and progress.
They believe that failure and pain are stepping stones in achieving their goals. Having a positive peer group is equally crucial as it influences their reputation to a larger extent. Therefore friends are selected cautiously and wisely.
They are fearless and courageous to face odds in life. He/she is not tempted towards evil. A student without discipline is like a ship without a rudder. It keeps sailing but never reaches the port. Hence our country needs students like this who can help the nation to prosper.
