In this evolving & fast-growing world, the act of corruption & bribery is no more considered a sin. Bribery is known as an offering, giving, receiving, or soliciting any item of value that can influence the other person’s decision or action. This kind of exchange is done to some work that is not permissible by law or to fasten up the same procedure. We all are aware that it is unethical, but we all are involved in the same way or the other. The existence of briber & unethical behaviour has become so rampant that it is impossible to vanish it overnight.

It is impossible to find a person who has been involved in any bribery throughout life. Even at home to get some work done or get better results, we bribe our children with things of their choice, like toys, chocolates etc. It is also an act of bribery which is left unnoticed. It starts at our home only. Our children are under the influence of this kind of work since their childhood & we cannot expect better from them. We must have come across many activities every day in which some or other kind bribery is involved.

Plenty of cases have been observed when someone is out in the roads & has crossed the rules knowingly or unknowingly; they immediately offer a bribe to the traffic police to not lose their time in the hustle of rules & regulations. The Multinational firms also involved in corruption in a significant way. For example, the firms which launch into a new market wins the contracts by bribing at high prices. By this, their business gets heated up & they make large scale profits.

Whereas firms that could not afford the high bribe end up in loss. In international trade, the level of bribery has taken furious figures. Liberalisation also has an enormous impact over the bureaucratic corruption, since the bureaucrat’s value vary, which raises the demand of bribe day by day.

Effects of Bribery

The people are losing their moral & faith day by day. Hard work is getting paid off to the extent it should have been recognized. Bribe has so much effect on market, business & trade that there is no room for healthy competition. It has been found that companies are ready to pay the bribes since it is way cheaper than the money to be spent on research work. The attempt to earn through illegal means resulted in benefit but for a short time. Bribery has also restricted open market trade & benefits of a trade agreement.

Eradication of Bribery

Equality of all the citizens has always been the topic of debate regarding education & employment. However, this equality is impossible to achieve where individuals are selfish. Instead of bribing a person for a position, we must allow the most deserving candidate to get his hard work results. It is the government of a country which can make or break this bribery system. Strict policies with proper vigilant task force can help the government significantly. All rules & regulations must be strict with a unique check to corruption in different fields.

Heavy punishment for them who are caught in bribery case must be implemented. Parents need to behave & inculcate proper morals in their ward. Teachers in school need to teach children the importance of honesty. They must be taught that giving & taking bribes are equally punishable acts. In a country like India, bribery has become the primary source of income for most government officials & public servants. However, the citizens must not complain about the same as they are only people who offer a bribe to them.
