Good evening to everyone present here. Respected teachers & my dear friends today I am going speak on Constitution of India. A Constitution is the backbone of the democratic country we are living in. It sets law & order which is followed by all other institution of the country. The word constitution itself is derived from French origin, which means law & order. It is the supreme law which governs a democratic country. A drafting committee was framed back in 1946 for the formation of the Indian Constitution.
It was headed by Dr B. R Ambedkar who is also known as the father of the Indian Constitution. Three hundred eighty-nine members had a meeting for 145 times to decide the Constitution over three years. Finally, the Indian Constitution was endorsed on 26th November 1949 & came into effect from 26th January 1950 which is celebrated as Republic Day. Indian Constitution is one of the longest in the world. It starts with a preamble & talks about liberty, equality, secularism & fraternity. Our Constitution consists of 465 articles, 12 schedules, 22 amendments & 146385 words in it.
In the last sixty years of Independence, the Constitution of India has been amended over a hundred times. Some of the essential features of the best Constitution of the world, i.e. France, Britain, USA, Germany & USSR, were taken to form the Indian Constitution. This is the reason why our Constitution is considered as one of the most comprehensive & detailed Constitution to exist in the world. India is diversified so as its problem but the Constitution has the solution to every type of problem people of India may face.
This is one of the reasons why our Constitution is so lengthy. Indian Constitution was initially written in both Hindi & English. It is the longest Constitution on the earth which is handwritten. The fundamental rights & values which we celebrate today is all the rights we got from the Constitution. India is the second-largest democratic country in the world due to the strength of our Constitution. The values of equality, liberty, secularism & fraternity are celebrated not only in India but also all over the world.
The Constitution has given the power to equality & welfare of the people without any discrimination based on caste, creed, religion, sex & place of birth. I want to conclude my speech with the fact that India has got one of the most vigorous Constitution, which helps us to become one of the most transparent democratic countries in the world. We all must be proud of our Constitution & country.

I am proud to be part of the largest democratic country of the world & it also takes immense pleasure to say that the Indian Constitution is one the strongest & robust Constitution in all over the world. Our Constitution was adopted on 26th January 1950 & was prepared by a drafting committee over three years. Dr B R Ambedkar was heading the committee.
Our Constitution consists of 465 articles, 12 schedules, 22 amendments & 146385 words in it. The interesting point is that the Indian Constitution was criticized a lot in the beginning, but it stands strong even after so many years of Independence. Indian Constitution is the amalgamation of the best constitutions of the world, which makes it rigid as well as flexible. It covers all the laws & order of such a diverse country like India. Our Constitution permits fundamental rights to the citizens of the country. These rights are for development & welfare of the people. Our Constitution is not biased in terms of caste, creed, religion & sex.
Our Constitution is very descriptive & comprehensive, which describes everything very vividly. We can also modify our Constitution through amendments over a while with our requirement. It is very dynamic & works in the direction of the welfare of the people. The forming of the Constitution was a very strenuous task; it has involved a lot of exercises & detailing. Our Constitution has enlisted all the rights, laws & order which the citizens of India would require for an ideal society. We all must be proud of our Constitution.
