DCE Scholarship 2021: DCE [Department of Collegiate Education] of Kerala state offers scholarships to meritorious and deserving students to pursue higher education without finances and fees being a constraint or blockage in the way to move up the education ladder. Different subsidiary departments of Kerala have come together to financially aid deserving students to overcome economic hindrances in achieving quality education. DCE Scholarship 2021 – Kerala Scholarship List

DCE offers a range of scholarships to aid students with financial grants. The list of scholarships and the respective time period for applying them is described below:

DCE Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

Each scholarship under the DCE umbrella is offered by various state departments of Kerala. Hence every scholarship comes with its own set of eligibility criteria and conditions. The detailed list of these conditions is given below:

ITC Fee reimbursement scholarship
  • Only minority students can apply [Christians, Muslims, Jains, Sikhs, Parsis, and Buddhists]
  • Candidates must be pursuing ITI courses.
  • Family income to be less than 8 lakhs per annum.
C H Muhammedkoya scholarship
  • Only for girl students.
  • Students should belong to Muslim or Converted Christian communities only.
  • Minimum level of education to be completed is graduation
  • Last qualifying exam score should be a minimum of 50% and more.
  • Candidates could be from self-financed colleges too.
  • Merit seat students can apply too.
  • Hostel stipend applicable only where a candidate is residing at colleges that are recognized.
  • Family income to be less than 8 lakhs per annum.
APJ Abdul Kalam Scholarship
  • Only minority students can apply [ Christians, Muslims, Jains, Sikhs, Parsis, and Buddhists]
  • Students must be studying in merit seats only.
  • Students must be pursuing government/ government-aided polytechnic courses only.
  • Family income to be less than 8 lakhs per annum.
Prof. Joseph Mundassery scholarship award
  • Only minority students can apply [ Christians, Muslims, Jains, Sikhs, Parsis, and Buddhists]
  • Courses to be pursuing – 10th/ 12th / vocational higher secondary education
  • Family income to be less than 8 lakhs per annum.
Mother Theresa Scholarship
  • Only minority students can apply [ Christians, Muslims, Jains, Sikhs, Parsis, and Buddhists]
  • Family income to be less than 8 lakhs per annum.
  • Candidates could be enrolled in diploma/ nursing/ Paramedical courses only.
CA/ICWA/CS scholarship
  • Only minority students can apply [ Christians, Muslims, Jains, Sikhs, Parsis, and Buddhists]
  • Family income to be less than 8 lakhs per annum.
  • Candidates could be enrolled in CA/ICWA/CS courses only
  • Last qualifying exam score should be a minimum of 60% and more.
District merit scholarship
  • Candidates pursuing higher secondary courses/ vocational higher secondary courses/ ITI/ polytechnic courses can apply.
  • Candidates should have passed 10th exam with A+ grade in all subjects.
  • Candidates should have pursued 10th from the Board of Public Examination, Kerala state.
State merit scholarship
  • Students should be studying in undergraduate or postgraduate courses from government/ government-aided educational institutions only.
  • Last qualifying exam score should be a minimum of 50% and more.
  • Family annual income to be less than INR 1 lakhs.
Sanskrit Scholarship
  • Candidates should be pursuing graduate/ undergraduate courses.
  • Sanskrit should be a compulsory subject of study in the course undertaken.
Muslim Nadar Girls scholarship
  • Girls from BPL families and backward communities can apply.
  • Courses to be pursuing are higher secondary/ vocational higher secondary courses/ undergraduate courses.
  • Course to be pursued from government or govt, aided science colleges/ universities.
Music fine arts scholarship
  • Candidates studying in government Music College/ govt Fine Arts College can apply.
Blind/PH scholarship
  • Only blind/ deaf and physically disabled students can apply.
  • Course to be pursued from government or govt, aided arts and science colleges/ universities/ music colleges.
Hindi scholarship
  • Candidates should be pursuing graduate/ undergraduate courses.
  • Hindi should be a compulsory subject of study in the course undertaken.
Suvarna Jubilee merit scholarship
  • BPL students can apply.
  • Candidates in the 1st year of undergraduate/ postgraduate courses can apply.
  • Last qualifying exam score should be a minimum of 50% and more.
Post matric scholarship for minorities
  • Only minority students can apply [ Christians, Muslims, Jains, Sikhs, Parsis, and Buddhists]
  • Eligible candidates can be pursuing anything between classes 11 till Ph.D.
  • Last qualifying exam score should be a minimum of 50% and more.
  • Family annual income to be less than INR 2 lakhs.
Central sector scholarship
  • Candidates whose score is above 80 percentile in class 12 can apply
  • Only candidates from regular courses need to apply.
  • Courses could be undergraduate/ postgraduate courses that are recognized by UGC/ AICTE/ MCI/ DCI
  • Family annual income to be less than INR 8 lakhs

DCE Scholarship Application Process

All scholarships under the DCE umbrella are applied ONLINE only. There are two leading portals concerned with the application of DCE scholarships. They are:

  • Minority Welfare Scholarship Portal
  • Department of Collegiate Education (DCE) Online Scholarship Portal.

Along with this, the National Scholarship Portal of the central government also provides Kerala state scholarships. Some scholarships are catered through the first-mentioned portal and others through the second one and the rest through the NSP. The specific details are listed below:

Step-wise DCE Scholarship Online Application Process

  • The first step involves the online registration of the candidate.
  • Candidate should set a valid login and password to register with the website.
  • Enter all basic information of candidates as part of mandatory registration.
  • Select board of passing 10th exam, personal, and contact details.
  • Enter the online student application for the scholarship section.
  • Read through all the guidelines before filling up the online application form.
  • Select the scholarship type that is appropriate for the candidate.
  • Enter all required fields, upload relevant documents, check for correctness, and click on the SUBMIT button.
  • This completes the online registration and application form filling for a scholarship.
  • Take a print out of the submitted application form.
  • If there are any discrepancies in the entered details, then click on ‘Edit registration’ details.
  • Submit the hard copy of the submitted application form with documents list at the educational institute where the candidate is studying.

Documents Required for DCE Scholarship

  • Qualifying mark sheets of candidate
  • Admission copy form an educational institution
  • Date of birth certificate
  • Domicile certificate of the candidate
  • Current educational course certificate of the candidate
  • Income certificate of the family [Parents]
  • Caste certificate of the candidate
  • Identity proof of the candidate
  • ECS (electronic clearing certificate) provided by the bank where the candidate holds an account.
  • Bank account details. [first page of passbook]

DCE Scholarship Rewards

The various rewards and benefits awarded by DCE scholarships are explained below:

  • For professional courses – INR 7,000 per annum
  • For hostel residents – INR 13,000 per annum
APJ Abdul Kalam Scholarship
  • INR 6,000 per annum
Prof. Joseph Mundassery scholarship award
  • INR 10,000 for every selected candidate
Mother Theresa Scholarship
  • INR 15,000 per annum
CA/ICWA/CS scholarship
  • INR 15,000 per annum
District merit scholarship
  • INR 1250 per annum
State merit scholarship
  • For graduate students – INR 1250 per annum
  • For postgraduate students – INR 1500 per annum
Sanskrit Scholarship
  • For undergraduate course – INR 200 per month
  • For postgraduate course – INR 200 per month
Muslim Nadar Girls scholarship
  • INR 125 per annum
Music fine arts scholarship
  • INR 1500 per annum
Blind/PH scholarship
  • Fee waiver for blind students with annual family income less than 2.5 lakhs
  • Hostel fee waiver for physically disabled students who are hostel residents and annual family income less than INR 4.5 lakhs
  • Boarding fee waiver for physically disabled students who are day scholars and annual family income less than INR 4.5 lakhs
Hindi scholarship
  • INR 500 per month for undergraduate students
  • INR 1000 per annum for post graduate students
Suvarna Jubilee merit scholarship
  • INR 10,000 per annum
Post matric scholarship for minorities
  • Admission and tuition fee waiver up to INR 10,000 per annum
  • Maintenance allowance up to INR 1200 per month, for 10 months only
Central sector scholarship
  • For graduation – INR 10,000 for first three years and INR 20,000 for 4th and 5th years
  • INR 20,000 per annum for post-graduation level

DCE Scholarship Renewal Process

Candidates who are receiving merit scholarships through DCE have to renew their applications every year in order to continue receiving financial assistance from the state government of Kerala. To renew their applications, candidates have to see the notification for renewal on the official website and apply accordingly. Candidates have to check the deadline for applying for renewal and apply before the last date is reached. Step by step DCE scholarship renewal process is given below:

  • Candidates should log into the DCE portal with valid credentials.
  • Check-in notification section regarding an update of their respective scholarship renewal.
  • Click on notification of the renewal of the scholarship.
  • Enter/ modify/edit/ update details with respect to the scholarship.
  • Upload scanned documents of the latest qualifying mark sheets and other essential certificates.
  • Submit the renewal form.
  • Take a print out of the same.
  • Submit this hard copy along with relevant documents at the educational institution.
