Short Paragraph on Environmental Pollution in 150 Words

Environmental pollution refers to the human activities that contaminate the surrounding, thereby disrupting the ecological balance and causing degradation at a massive level. The agents responsible for pollution are known as pollutants. These are harmful substances that dissolve in the water, air and soil, making it unfit for consumption. Due to extraneous human activities and ignorance towards nature, the environment is affected, leading to pollution such as air, water, soil, noise, radioactive and thermal pollution.

The industries are considered to be the main component of contamination as they release smoke through chimneys in the air and discharge harmful waste into the water. Other pollutants include burning garbage, greenhouse gases and increasing levels of carbon dioxide in the air. Furthermore, pollution creates adverse effects on humans and animals. People suffer from several diseases, and animals die. Therefore, it is essential to adopt an eco-friendly approach to reduce environmental pollution.

Paragraph on Environmental Pollution – 300 Words

The existence of a harmful substance in the environment is known as a pollutant, and its occurrence is called environmental pollution. Pollution is a debatable topic that had raised concern among humans over several years. Everybody is aware of the problem, but only a few heeds to the calls of nature and rest lay ignorant and act dormant. Perhaps, people haven’t realized the impact it will have on them in future.

Environmental pollution is a general term which refers to pollution visible in air, soil, water and noise. Other forms of pollution include radioactive, heat, and light. It is triggered or caused due to many factors such as industrial waste, vehicles, agricultural and medical waste etc. the chemical waste that is discharged into the water bodies and the toxic gases that are released into the atmosphere causes massive air and water pollution. Moreover, the emission of smoke from vehicles affects the quality of air and agricultural waste damages the fertility of the soil. The loud processions during festivals and music during weddings cause noise pollution.

Furthermore, the reasons that have created pollution is overpopulation. Humans are increasing at a faster rate due to low death rates and discovery in science. This has further created a demand for land, water, industries and agriculture. To meet the demand, humans have started clearing forests to provide housing and agriculture facility to the overgrowing population. While doing so, they have entirely neglected the biodiversity that balances the survival of all.

Trees are cut even after knowing that they are the lungs of the earth and provider of life-supporting gas. However, we must understand that environment is a creator of complex eco-system that could never be reproduced by humans. The value of nature is immeasurable and thus needs protection and preservation. Collectively, we can reduce pollution by practising sustainable ways hence reviving our environment for the future.

Long Paragraph on Environmental Pollution – 500 Words

Below we have provided Environmental Pollution Paragraph, usually given for classes 9, 10, 11 and 12 students.

The environment encompasses both living and non-living components. The variety of living things that exist is fundamental to the survival of life on earth. However, the damage that is caused due to human activities under the pretext of development demands the protection of the natural environment. Biodiversity is the core of the earth that ensures survival. It not only house variety of species but also represents the interdependence of all the living things, including humans.

Earth is divided into categories such as forests, grasslands, tundra, deserts and oceans. Without organisms and vegetation, these categories would be redundant clearly, if we see that the function of eco-system and diversity has played a vital role in the evolution of the world. Given the current situation, several factors have sabotaged our eco-system. The first one is excessive land use. People are cutting trees to create space for farms. Intensive agriculture is something that has become a growing concern as it includes usage of fertilizers and pesticides that drives the animals away and eventually convert the fertile soil into infertile one.

Farmers have no choice but leave that area and hunt for another to continue farming. This vicious cycle continues to destruct the natural land. Moreover, the tropical rain forests that house various species of plants and animals are cleared for erecting industries and factories. This, in turn, produces smoke and releases it in the air, causing air pollution. Even the waste they generate is discharged into the water bodies, thus clogging the pipes and making it unfit for drinking.

Another threat is the loss and extinction of species that form an integral part of the eco-system. Animals on land, water and air suffer due to the harmful activities of humans which are carried on a large scale. Climate change is one more factor that is adding fuel to the fire, thus making the conditions worse and irreversible. Due to the presence of a toxic pollutant in the environment, humans are suffering from fatal diseases such as asthma, tuberculosis, bronchitis, skin cancer, jaundice, diarrhoea, malaria, lung failure etc. though the advances in science and technology have proved rewarding in eliminating certain diseases.

Still, the quality of life is deteriorating gradually due to frequent intake of medicines. Furthermore, the growing population demands more living space, agricultural land and industries, which causes displacement of the environment.

We must realize that environment provides us with a bounty of clean water, green pastures, a variety of trees and animals and seasons to experience. Biodiversity has a way to manage the changes that take place in the surrounding. For instance, trees help to regulate nature by absorbing carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen. In the end, we require a natural environment to live in. Luckily some environmentalists and people have realized this menace and have started propagating sustainable ways through campaigns and tree plantation programs.

Some people have initiated programs such as hiking, trekking and birding to encourage the masses to witness the beauty that nature has bestowed upon us. Hopefully, if we continue doing adopting a positive approach, we can live harmoniously with the environment.
