Not just on the day of National Sports day, but our PM hopes the nation will join him in his fitness campaign and hence has ensured calling out fitness messages in all his future addresses and campaigns for the country. The PM himself is a big fitness enthusiast and has called in many celebrities across the country from various fields to pour in their support and enthusiasm to make this campaign a huge success.
The PM regularly practices Yoga and breathing exercises setting an example of wellness and fitness for the whole country. Some of the well-known names like PV Sindhu, Hima Das, Sakshi Malik and Bajrang Punia have expressed immense support and success for the movement.
Importance of Fitness
Talking about the importance of fitness in his talks, the PM explained the significance of a healthy person to his family and ultimately its reflection on building a healthy society. One of the most important reasons behind a successful man is attributed to a sound mind, which stays in a sound body.
If the body is fit, a person has no limits to reach the sky, in PM’s words. Its not just about discussions and debates on fitness. Fitness comes in to our lives when we make it our standard of living. For that we need to encourage and motivate ourselves to eat healthy, live healthy, think healthy and ultimately stay healthy.
For a healthy living and lifestyle, there is absolutely no monetary investment needed whatsoever. For fitness becoming a part of our lives, the money needed to be put in is zero, but the returns are unmeasurable.
A person who is fit and healthy will reap the benefits of good health and will be able to enjoy both his personal and professional lives and climb the ladder of success. Such is the significance of good health that to achieve great things in life, the first and foremost requirement is a sound body plus a sound mind, leading to fitness goals in one’s life.
Fitness Goals
One of the primary requirements in today’s hectic lifestyles is to become motivated to lead a health-conscious life. Just like how there is no shortcut to success in life, similar way there is no fast elevator to attaining a healthy life too.
It is a long process where healthy living needs to be practices by each and every individual by making good lifestyle choices, healthy eating and quitting unnecessary actions out of the mind and body.
Addictions in life like drugs, alcohol, smoking cigarettes, junk food etc are unhealthy lifestyle choices and threaten to degrade the health of a person. They not just bring down the immunity and stamina of a person, but are life threatening too.
They welcome lifestyle diseases like diabetes, hypertension, heart diseases, liver and kidney ailments which can prove fatal in the long run. Today we don’t see just the older generation suffering from these problems.
They affect the younger generation at a very young age. Even teenagers are part of lifestyle disorders due to their bad lifestyle choices and parents not taking a call on healthy lifestyle choices.
Technology and Fitness
We all have access to the latest technology right at our fingertips. In spite of that, we don not have health in our hands. We spend lakhs of rupees on medication, tablets, therapies etc just to ensure we stay healthy. But in reality, that doesn’t happen as expected. We download the latest apps on health in our mobiles but rarely use them. Even if we use them, we do not make healthy living a part and parcel of our lives.
Our food choices are bad. Young mind hit the gym at their convenient time, but do not take good and nutritious food on time and have irregular sleeping habits. At home, we spend lakhs of money in setting up a room full of gym equipment but do not have the time and patience to utilise them effectively.
Major Dhyan Chand is a major inspiration for fitness for the whole of India, according to our PM. In fact, it is on National Sports Day that the hockey legend was born. The PM called out to the nation and talking about the legend, he said that the amazing man surprised the world with his levels of energy, dedication, determination and healthy living choices. He is an inspiration to the youth of this country forever.
We spend hours together in front of our cell phones, smart phones, laptops, tablets etc but do not find time to do some healthy exercise ourselves. Earlier people used to cycle to work. They used to walk miles together to burn the food that they eat. They never depended on gadgets for every other thing they do.
They did manual and strenuous work themselves to attain good and quality workmanship. Now technology has made man its slaves. So, man depends on technology for his every requirement and in the end, he doesn’t need to even move a finger to get his work done in seconds.
Shopping happens at the touch of a button, we can travel miles by taking the next flight available, we can do almost everything from the comfort of our sofas at home. So physical work and stamina is lost in the process. Technology has brought in equal amounts of lethargy and diseases to the society as much as its many benefits.
The Fit India Movement
It was such a huge movement with such an enormous appeal that schools and colleges across the country chose to live stream the event so that awareness be spread amongst the youth of the he country in shaping our new India, a healthy India.
The programme was in fact launched by the PM at 10 AM on National sports day and said it would be a very interesting movement for all classes and sections of society, for all ages and for men and women alike.
At many varsities, the faculties were directed to live stream the event for the benefit of their students. CBSE and affiliated schools had issued directions to compulsorily view the event as part of their daily activity on the day of the event.
Not just people from the sports field, but also top industrialists, Bollywood celebrities, actors etc have expressed pleasure in supporting for the cause. The implementation of the movement is dependent on 11 ministries which are shortlisted to effectively take care of the program. They are to work in collaboration and co-ordination with the Sports ministry, ministry of HRD, Panchayati Raj Ministry, Rural development ministry etc.
The PM advised the nation and its citizens to first understand their bodies better. If we try to climb the ladder of success without understanding ourselves, then there is absolutely no use. Success and fitness are two interlinked things and they go hand in hand with each other.
The PM urged the countrymen to lead the movement and actively participate in it, hence ensuring its success. He stresses on the need of the hour to welcome fitness and eliminate lifestyle and deadly disorders from the roots. We need to realise that our body has its own form of functioning, routine activities etc. to understand this better and adopt a holistic growth culture, we first need to understand it.
That is the beginning of a long fitness journey. People with high success rates in their career also have sound health at their fingertips. It simply boosts their energy and self confidence and improves their vision. In the long run, they become great personalities to look up to for inspiration.
Be it in films, sports or businesses, famous personalities also have a back-end support in the form of health and fitness which actually helps them maintain good balance and form in life. Overall, to excel in life in our chosen fields, health and fitness is a must, without which there is no gain in life.
Conclusion
The topic of lifestyle diseases and disorders is mounting everyday in newspapers and TV channels. To combat these diseases and lead a good life, fitness is essential and very important. Just by making small and healthy lifestyle changes, we can overcome these diseases and become a master of fitness and our health specialist.
We must inspire the youth of the country to make healthy lifestyle choices and lead a good life by spreading the message of fit India movement.
