We only get one life, and living it to the fullest should be our goal. But in order to live life to its best, one needs to remain healthy and fit. Being fit is as simple as being able to do all of the day to day chores without feelings of fatigue and laziness.
Mental fitness has also gained quite a lot of importance alongside physical fitness. Women love to maintain a slim and trim look whereas men love showcasing some muscle.
Hard work has no alternative, and neither does regular exercise. Simple acts like having a nutritious meal, playing a sport and keeping ourselves and our surroundings clean can be more beneficial to us that we can imagine. The key to maintaining good health also includes managing stress, having a work-life balance and keeping healthy relationships.

Lifestyle is simply a person’s way of life, the way he or she lives. Lifestyle is a major factor influencing our health and fitness. A person is bound to be lethargic if he or she spends hours sitting in front of the television and eating unhealthy snacks like potato chips and carbonated soda.
Smoking and Drinking
There is no doubt in the fact that a person who smokes or drinks excessively is not healthy and fit at all. If a person can’t go through the day without smoking at least 2 to 3 cigarettes, the person is at a high risk of getting cancer. Drinking alcohol very frequently and in large quantities can result in heart attacks and strokes. It can also cause insomnia which can mess with your mental health.
The place where a person lives, where he or she resides can also play a significant role in maintaining his or her health and fitness. If he or she lives near a manufacturing plant or a factory, then he or she is at risk of inhaling and coming in contact with harmful chemicals and substances. People living in busy cities are also affected by noise pollution, air pollution and water pollution. It is not uncommon for people living in urban cities to develop respiratory problems such as asthma.
The kind of diet a person intakes can also be responsible for their health. It is but obvious that a person will become a victim to obesity if all he or she eats is fast food or junk food and does not indulge in any physical activity. These foods do not provide any protein to the body. They fail in energising our systems and have an extremely negative impact on our body’s functioning.

Water is the cheapest medicine. A person should drink around 2 litres of water per day to stay fully hydrated. Our body loses water through sweat and urine, and hence, it is essential to restore it. Water is needed for purposes like digestion and flushing out bacteria from the body. Studies have also shown that drinking plenty of water helps in losing weight and makes our skin more clear.
It is highly recommended to include lots of fruits, vegetables and nuts into your diet as they supply the body with ample vitamins and minerals. Also, make it a point to avoid skipping meals because the body needs fuel to run on and if you do not eat properly, you might feel lazy, out of breath and even dizzy. Skipping meals also makes it difficult to lose weight. It causes the body to feel hungrier than usual and may end up in a person gaining weight. Avoid eating sugary and fatty foods. They tend to increase your cholesterol levels rapidly. Try to have early dinners.
Regular exercise and workouts are a must to be in shape. If you cannot go to a gym, then spend about half an hour walking or jogging daily. Even a 20 minute workout routine, including squats, lunges, planks, and sit-ups at home can cause wonders for your body. Activities like gardening, cleaning, playing outdoors, and dancing can provide ample physical activity to your body. Exercising regularly prevents the risk of premature death and helps boost a person’s mood and spirit.
It is crucial to get a good sleep of around 7 to 9 hours daily. Sleeping helps us regenerate our body tissues and muscles. Even our immune system relies on a sound sleep to remain strong. It is necessary for us so that we can perform productively and not lose our concentration. Sleep deprivation can cause weight gain, high blood pressure and weak memory.
