HP ePASS Scholarship 2020: The Himachal Pradesh Electronic Payment and Application System of Scholarships is an excellent system of scholarship facilitation for the students. It is implemented under the guidance of the Ministry of Higher Education, the government of Himachal Pradesh. These scholarships are awarded for those students who are economically and financially in need of this scholarship. Up to 1.4 lakh, Himachal students benefit every year from these scholarships. This scholarship is awarded to students studying in both government and private educational institutions. Scholarships offered under this portal are divided into three groups for ease of grouping and better understanding the entire process.

Scholarships are extended to only students whose domicile is Himachal Pradesh, but that doesn’t restrict students to study outside the state.

HP ePASS Scholarship – Eligibility Criteria

Every scheme under this scholarship has specific eligibility conditions and criteria. They are listed below in detail. All candidates are requested to go through the eligibility criteria in detail before making an application for the scheme they wish to opt for. Details are tabulated below:

  • Age should be less than 16 years.
  • Candidate should be studying in Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas.
  • INR 3000 as one time reward.
Pre-Matric Scholarship for SC Students (9th &10th) CSS
  • Annual income of parents should be less than INR 2.5 lakhs.
  • Scholarship awarded for 10 months – INR 225 per month for day scholars and INR 525 per month for hostellers
  • Scholarship grant for books and ad-hoc grant – INR 750 per annum for day scholars and INR 1000 per annum for hostellers.
Pre-Matric Scholarship for ST Students (9th &10th) CSS
  • Annual income of parents should be less than INR 2 lakhs.
  • Scholarship awarded for 10 months – INR 150 per month for day scholars and INR 350 per month for hostellers
  • Scholarship grant for books and ad-hoc grant – INR 750 per annum for day scholars and INR 1000 per annum for hostellers
Pre-Matric Scholarship for OBC Students (1st to 10th) (CSS)
  • Annual income of parents should be less than INR 2.5 lakhs
  • Day scholars from class 1 to 10 will receive INR 100 per month and an ad hoc grant of INR 500 per annum. Hostellers from class 3 to 10 will receive INR 500 per month and ad hoc grant of INR 500 per annum.
Post-Matric Scholarship to SC students (CSS)
  • Annual income of parents should be less than INR 2.5 lakhs
  • For day scholars, grant in the range of INR 230 to INR 550 shall be aped every month.
  • For hostellers, grant in the range of INR 380 to INR 1200 shall be paid every month.
Post-Matric Scholarship to ST students (CSS)
  • Annual income of parents should be less than INR 2.5 lakhs.
  • For day scholars, grant in the range of INR 230 to INR 550 shall be paid every month.
  • For hostellers, grant in the range of INR 380 to INR 1200 shall be paid every month.
Post-Matric Scholarship to OBC students (CSS)
  • Annual income of parents should be less than INR 1.5 lakhs
  • For day scholars, grant in the range of INR 160 to INR 350 shall be paid every month.
  • For hostellers, grant in the range of INR 260 to INR 750 shall be paid every month.
Dr. Ambedkar Post-Matric Scholarship for Economically Backward Classes (CSS)
  • Annual income of parents should be less than INR 1 lakhs
  • For day scholars, grant in the range of INR 160 to INR 350 shall be paid every month.
  • For hostellers, grant in the range of INR 260 to INR 750 shall be paid every month.
Up gradation of Merit scheme for SC/ST students (CSS) (Only for GSSS Bharmour, Chamba)
  • Candidate should be studying between classes 9th till class 12th only.
  • Fee coverage benefits – INR 2500 per annum
  • Boarding and lodging fees – INR 700 per annum
  • Other allowance – INR 200 per annum
Merit cum means scholarship for Students belonging to Minority Community (CSS)
  • Annual income of parents should be less than INR 2.5 lakhs
  • Students should score more than 50% in their course.
  • INR 30,000 per annum for hostellers
  • INR 25000 per annum for day scholars
Post-Matric Scholarship to students belonging to Minority community (CSS)
  • Range of courses applicable –Class 11th to PhD
  • Annual income of parents should be less than INR 2 lakhs
  • For hostellers – INR 3000 to INR 7000 per annum. Maintenance allowance – INR 380 to INR 1200 per month.
  • For hostellers – INR 3000 to INR 7000 per annum. Maintenance allowance – INR 230 to INR 550 per month
Maulana Azad National Scholarship for Meritorious Girls students belonging to Minorities(CSS)
  • Annual income of parents should be less than INR 2 lakhs
  • Minority girls should have a score of at least 50% in the previous qualifying exam.
  • INR 5000 per annum for girl students of class 9th and 10th
  • INR 6000 per annum for girl students of class 11th and 12th
National Means-Cum-Merit Scholarship scheme(CSS)
  • Annual income of parents should be less than INR 1.5 lakhs
  • INR 6000 per annum
Scholarship scheme to disabled Students(CSS)
  • Annual income of parents should be less than INR 3 lakhs (For scholarship scheme trust fund)
  • Annual income of parents should be less than INR 1.8 lakhs (For scholarship scheme national fund)
For scholarship scheme trust fund

  • For graduate courses – INR 2500 per month plus INR 6000 per annum
  • For postgraduate courses – INR 3000 per month plus INR 10,000 per annum

For scholarship scheme national fund

· Scholarship for 10 months – Between INR 400 to 700 per month ( day scholars) and Between INR 700 to INR 1000 (hostellers)

  • Course fee – INR 10,000 per annum
Dr. Ambedkar Pre-Matric Scholarship scheme for DNTs
  • Annual income of parents should be less than INR 2 lakhs
  • For class 1 to 8 – INR 1000 per month, for 10 months
  • For class 9 and 10 – INR 1500 per month, for 10 months
Dr. Ambedkar Post-Matric Scholarship scheme for DNTs
  • Annual income of parents should be less than INR 2 lakhs
  • For hostellers – INR 380 to INR 1200
  • For day scholars – INR 230 to INR 550.

  • Applicable for all students from HP who have sought admission in IITs

Maharishi Balmiki Chattervritti Yojna for students
  • Girl students belonging to Balmiki families and other low strata occupations

IRDP Scholarship Scheme for students
  • 9th to university level students are eligible
  • Should be studying in government or government-aided institutions of HP
  • For boys – INR 300 to INR 2400
  • For girls- INR 600 to INR 2400
Sainik School Sujanpur Tihara Scholarship for students
  • Students studying from class 6th to 8th in Sainik school Sujan Pur Tihra
  • Between INR 8000 to INR 18,000 per annum
Rashtriya Indian Military College Scholarship(Only for RIMC Dehradun) for students
  • Students studying from class 8th till 11th in Rashtriya Indian Military College
  • INR 20,000 per annum
NDA Scholarship Scheme(Only for NDA Khadakwasla) for students
  • For cadets from HP state pursuing course at NDA Khadakwasla
  • Between INR 6900 to INR 12,000 per annum
Financial Assistance scheme to the children of the Armed Forces Personnel killed/disabled during the different War/Operations

  • For diploma courses – SC/ST students shall receive INR 200 per month
Scholarship scheme for ITI Students(SC/ST/OBC/General)
  • For students pursuing ITI courses only
  • INR 250 per month for SC/ST/OBC candidates
  • INR 100 per month for general merit candidates

HP ePASS Application Process

As most of the scholarship portals are seeking automation in terms of ensuring transparency in the whole process, the HP government is not far behind. They have also come up with an ONLINE method of application. All candidates who wish to apply for these schemes need to visit the official portal to apply. There is no other method to apply whatsoever. The four-step process is explained in detail below:

Step 1: Registration

  • Visit the official website – [hpepass.cgg.gov.in]
  • Click on the ‘Student Login’ section
  • Select ‘New student registration.’
  • Fill the registration form with the basic details of the candidate.
  • Click on the ‘register’ button to complete the registration process

Step 2: Logging into the portal

  • Log into the portal by providing Aadhaar card details and electronic ID number and password
  • Click on ‘Submit application’ section

Step 3: Application form filling

  • Fill in all details correctly in the application form
  • Enter course details
  • Here candidate cant modify details entered in the registration form
  • Enter candidate’s contact details
  • Fill in all bank details requested
  • Click on the self-declaration section and complete it
  • Update or edit any details if required
  • Click on ‘Submit application’ button

Step 4: Take Printout of the HP ePass Application Form

  • Take the print out of the application form by clicking on the ‘Print’ option.
  • Mail hard copies of application and documents to the respective educational institution before the deadline is reached.

Documents Required for HP ePASS Scholarship

The number of schemes offered under the HP ePASS portal is huge and varying in nature. Each scheme has a set of different documents to be attached along with the application form. However, in general, candidates need to be in possession of these documents apart from a few specific ones, the list is provided below:

  • Recent passport size photo of the candidate
  • Birth certificate of the candidate
  • Aadhaar card of the candidate
  • Mark sheets of last qualifying exams
  • Income certificate
  • Caste certificate
  • Domicile certificate
  • Tribal certificate ( if applicable)
  • Physical disability certificate
  • Bank passbook of candidate
  • Receipts issued by an educational institution
  • Fee structure provided by an educational institution
  • Bonafide certificate provided by an educational institution

HP ePASS Scholarship – Renewal Process

Candidates receiving the scholarship amount should take care to renew their scholarships every year till the completion of their course. The renewal process is very simple and can be completed in a few steps. The renewal application of the candidate is, however, subjected to the condition that the candidate should maintain high academic scores and also maintain a good attendance track record.

  • Log into the official portal.
  • Enter candidate registration id and password.
  • Go to the Student login section.
  • Select renewal of applications for the current year
  • Enter all the details requested.
  • Edit/modify/ update any data as required.
  • Upload specific documents for further processing
  • Submit the renewal application form.
  • After submission, ensure that you take a hard copy and attach with relevant documents and send it to the respective educational institution.

HP ePASS – Important Instructions

  • All candidates applying for these scholarships must have a valid Aadhaar card at the time of applying.
  • Candidates must check the timelines for specific schemes while applying for scholarships.
  • The application form can be completed in many sittings and finalized until all details are correct.
  • Upon hitting the submit button, the application shall be taken for further processing by the system.
  • Candidates who fail to submit application form hard copy to the educational institution shall not be considered further for the scholarship. Online and offline modes of submission are necessary.

HP ePASS Status

  • Once the candidate submits his application online, the same shall be forwarded to the respective educational institution.
  • The application shall be verified by the authorities of the respective educational institution.
  • Candidates can check the result of their applications/ status of their applications by logging into the official portal.

HP ePASS 2020 – FAQ’s

1. After clicking the submit button, can I edit a few fields if there is a mistake in any of them?
Answer: After clicking the submit button, you can’t edit any information.

2. Is it mandatory to send the hard copy of the application form to the educational institution?
Answer: It is. In case it isn’t sent within the deadline, then such applications shall be rejected.

3. How can I edit details in my saved application form before submission?
Answer: Go to the student login section, and you can edit details before submission.

4. If I have to renew my application, but I choose to apply as a fresh applicant, is it possible?
Answer: In that case, the renewal application of the candidate shall stand cancelled.

5. Who can apply for these scholarships?
Answer: Whose domicile is HP and studying from class 9th within the state or outside the state, only within India can apply.
