The literal meaning of binary is something which is composed to two things. Pick up class 10th NCERT Science textbook which also teaches the student about two kinds of sex. They teach the students that chromosomes are responsible to determine sex of an individual. Chromosomes XX mean woman and chromosomes XY mean men and nothing beyond that. This means only two kinds of sex are present in our society of we can say in the world at large.
Thus, is this topic sex is not a binary instance even make any sense? Yes, this topic makes a sense as it is a truth has become a ‘hush hush’ concept in the country. The country wants development, not only economically but ideologically as well. We live in a society which is silent on the topic about those who are born neither as a girl nor as a boy. They even form the part of our society and have a right to live a dignified life.
These people are born with some different kind of genitalia. With the advancement in technology, now it is possible that a person is born with a different kind of genitalia can get surgical treatment which will make him fit for the society. But, do we need this kind of alteration, change or a physical treatment. Everything is natural and so their genitalia then, why are they considered useless by our society?
Why did treated differently by others? And why do we encounter a pin drop silence when we take their name? These people are transgender, who differ from the well known and well assigned sex. If we look into the data available to us, about 0.3 per cent of the European population, and about 0.5% to 0.6% percent of American population comes under the category of transgender.
In India, according to the Census which took place in 2011, there were 4,90,000 transgender. Though, these people are less in number, they could not be ignored as they breathe in the same air as we do. Therefore, a dignified life is their right which no one can ignore.

What is the third sex?
The people who are termed as the third sex are born with Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia or CAH which is a disorder related to sexual disorders. This occurs due to the deficiency of 11 beta hydroxylase. With these deficiencies they are those people who are born with typical male or female anatomies but feel as though they have been born into the wrong body.
They are male or female depending upon how their bodies look like. The doctor acknowledge a boy who grow and become a man in the same way the doctor acknowledge a girl who grow and become a woman but the identities of trans depends upon with whom their body resembles. Most of these people are either man or woman. But a few of them do not fit in any of them, they have characteristics of both.
Sex is not binary
Sex is different from gender. They comprise of what a person’s chromosomes, hormones, genes, sex organs and secondary sexual characteristics speak about him and his physical body. The ideology of the people has divided the sex into two divergent poles. Does this division meant exist? No, they were created long ago by narrow minded humans.
There are a few people who stand between these poles, sitting somewhere between the male and the female genetically, physiologically and mentally. Today, these people needs identity of own. They should not be left in the middle of these two poles due to which a question pops up in their minds for their worth.
The schools have much to do in this field. A child is taught about the people who has established themselves on the two poles but they are never taught about those who a standing helpless in between the both. They are taught that a new born shall have either XX or XY chromosomes and for XX chromosome will make a female and XY chromosome will make a male and the chapter is over.
But, in reality there are many chromosomes which remain unknown to the student. The chromosomes which get ignored by the textbooks of a student are XXY, XYY, X, XXX and even more combinations. These chromosome combinations which could not be identified with the chromosomes of the two poles results into a variety of sex characteristics.
The process of reproduction remains the same for everyone in the beginning. The time when the embryos develop they start with the same tract and no importance is given to chromosomes. Later at the time of typical embryonic development, the embryos with SRY genes, found on the Y chromosome give birth to a boy, and the embryos with WNT4 gene found on chromosome 1 and no SRY gene give birth to a girl.
There is just a single chemical reaction which separates these chromosomes. The doctors find the means to satisfy the parents after the birth of these children, but, they are not sure about what the parents really want and how they can satisfy them. Many parents leave their children to those communities which consist of the people who stand in the middle.
They become that part of the society which is ignored by everyone. They are left to live a life which they do not deserve. They are a part of the society and the society needs to accept them.
This binary code which was biological in nature, now has many other aspects like social, economical and political aspects which had developed with time. The society is hard to accept them, and therefore they remain politically weak and the politics involves them to gain their sympathy which in turn get them handsome amount of votes for this section of society.
They should be taught that the transgender people are like everyone else, who needs to have their own identity, they should be treated with respect, they should get admission in reputable schools and colleges, proper job opportunities should be present for them, and much more but most importantly they should be treated like any other human being living on this planet. People with intersex conditions were not happily welcomed by the society.
The doctors have developed methods by which a person having a different characteristic could be cured by surgeries at a very tender age. It means that the humans are making an infant fit for the society who might not accept his present condition. An infant who is unaware of the fact about where he stands in the society is been operated.
For the sake of the society, these infants go through a lot of pain. The entire process may even take their lives. The doctors have nothing to do whether a patient is a boy or a girl or both. The parents hand over their infants at the mercy of blades. The process sometime even ends up with the death of infants. What are those parents doing? They are rejecting their child in its true self.
The countries like America and certain parts of Europe have accepted these changes in a human body. Recently, a transgender woman Pamela Rocker, has announced her campaign for Democrats. She has even filled her statement of candidacy with the Federal Elections Commission.
The President of Ireland, Mr. Leo Varadkar is a transgender and he is an openly trance head of the government in modern times. He is also the first Irish government leader of Indian heritage. We have another name in the list, Ana Brnabic, who is serving as the President of Serbia. She is one of the most powerful women. But there are many countries in which these people are still facing differences. It’s a long way ahead but this problem shall surely come to an end.
Conclusion
Every parent wants their children to be fit and fine and every child needs love and affection of their parents. Whether the child is a girl, or a boy, or a mixture of all, the parents need to accept them as they are born. If we want that the society should accept these children, then it’s the foremost duty of their parent to accept them openly and to love them and shower everything which a parent would do to their children.
The nature wants them to be in their natural way. They are born with the same process as every other individual is born. They are as same as we are and they also find it difficult to accept their identity. But if we accept them as they are they will live a life which is free from all orthodox and traditional thoughts.
We all live one life and even if we take a rebirth we never remembers our previous life, so, there should not be any place for difference and marginalizing these people from our society, because they all are like you which a unique combination of chromosomes.
