JEE Advanced Exam Pattern 2021, Marks Scheme, Type of Questions

JEE Advanced 2021 Exam Pattern lists the type of questions, marking scheme, exam mode, etc. Joint Entrance Examination Advanced known as JEE Advanced is a national level entrance exam directed by IIT, Delhi. This exam is aimed at providing admissions into several UG programmes at IITs and ISM. The comprehensive details regarding the JEE Advanced Exam Pattern 2021 are specified in this article.

JEE Advanced Exam Pattern 2021

  • The entrance test is expected to be organized in the 3rd week of May 2021.
  • The IIT JEE Advanced exam shall be supervised through online (Computer Based) mode only.
  • The examination comprises 2 papers and the two papers must be attempted compulsorily.
  • Both the two papers are composed of 3 sections, viz Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
  • The question papers consist of objective type of questions accommodating MCQ and numerical answer type questions.
  • Time duration provided to complete the test is 3 hours. For paper-1, the duration is between 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., and for paper-2, the duration is between 14:30 p.m. to 17:30 p.m.
  • The medium of the question paper is available in both English and Hindi, and the candidate is supposed to select the medium during registration.
  • Negative marking is applied to some of the questions.

JEE Advanced 2021 Architecture Aptitude Test (AAT)

  • The entrance test is expected to be organized in the 3rd week of May 2021.
  • AAT Exam shall be supervised through offline mode only (Pen Paper Based).
  • The examination comprises one paper only.
  • The exam paper is composed of 3 sections, viz Mathematics, Aptitude Test & Drawing Test.
  • The question paper consists of objective type of questions.
  • Time duration provided to complete the test is 3 hours.
  • The medium of the question paper is English.

JEE Advanced Syllabus 2021

JEE Advanced 2021 Syllabus is formulated with topics from Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics subjects. Some of the topics covered under each of the subjects are listed below:

Chemistry: Topics include Concept of atoms and molecules, neutralisation, Absolute scale of temperature, root mean square & the most probable velocities and their relation with the temperature, Bohr model, the spectrum of a hydrogen atom, quantum numbers, etc.

Physics: Topics include Units and dimensions, dimensional analysis, Kinematics in one and two dimensions, Linear and angular simple harmonic motions, Hooke’s law, Young’s modulus, etc.

Mathematics: Topics include Algebra of complex numbers, addition, multiplication, conjugation, Trigonometric functions, their periodicity and graphs, Cartesian coordinates, distance between two points, section formula, etc.

AAT Exam: Topics include Exercises in geometrical drawing containing lines, angles, triangles, Understanding and appreciation of three-dimensional forms, Composition exercise with given elements, Context mapping, etc.

Exam Day Instructions

Relevant instructions regarding the examination are enlisted in the below section:

  • Candidates are supposed to be present at the examination centre at least 1 hour before the examination commencement.
  • Do not forget to carry the hard copy of the admit card along with one ID proof and 2 photographs to the examination hall.
  • Appearing candidates shall not be permitted inside the examination hall without admit card.
  • No electronic device like mobile, calculator etc. is allowed inside the examination centre.
