JEE Main 2021 Exam Pattern: Marking Scheme, Questions, Duration

JEE Main Exam Pattern 2021 is disclosed via online mode. The pattern shows the exam mode, question type, marking scheme, etc. The updated JEE Main 2021 exam pattern and syllabus are enclosed in this article. The JEE Main exam, a national level examination is organized via online mode to provide admission into undergraduate engineering (B.E/ B.Tech) and architecture (B.Arch & B. Planning) courses in NITs, IIITs and IITs. This article furnishes the detailed information related to JEE Main 2021 Exam Pattern.

JEE Main Exam Pattern 2021

JEE Main 2021 Registration began from 16th December 2020 for the February slot exam. JEE Main 2021 exam dates are already out for all sessions. It is expected to be conducted from 23rd to 25th February 2021 for February session. No particular attempt limit is proposed for JEE Main examination.

JEE Main (B.E/ B.Tech) Exam Pattern

  • The examination shall be conducted via online CBT mode. Drawing test for JEE Main Paper II (B.Arch) shall be organized through offline mode.
  • JEE Main shall cover questions from Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics subjects.
  • A total of 90 questions in the format of Multiple Choice questions and numeric type questions shall be asked in the exam. Out of which 75 questions must be answered. Choices shall be given in section B.
  • The exam duration is 3 hours and 4 hours for candidates with 40% disability.
  • The medium of the question paper is available in English, Hindi, Tamil, Urdu, Odia, Assamese, Punjabi, Telugu, Malayalam, Marathi, Kannada, Gujarati, Bengali for all centre cities. Candidates are supposed to pick a language from the given medium choices during the application process. Once selected, it cannot be undone.
  • Each correct question bags 4 marks and 1 mark is reduced for every wrong answer.
  • There shall be no negative marking in section B.
  • Note: Section B contains 10 questions, out of which 5 must be attempted.

JEE Main B.Arch Exam Pattern

  • The examination shall be conducted via online CBT mode. The drawing test of Paper 2 shall be conducted through offline mode on a sheet of A4 size.
  • The JEE Main covers questions from three subjects – mathematics, aptitude test and drawing test.
  • Multiple Choice questions shall be asked in section A & numerical value filling questions shall be asked in section B.
  • A total of 82 questions shall be divided in the below format:

  • In section B, under mathematics, candidates must attempt 5 questions out of 10.
  • The exam duration is 3 hours and 4 hours for candidates with 40% disability.
  • The medium of the question paper is available in Assamese, Bengali, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu in addition to Hindi, English and Gujarati.
  • Each correct answer bags 4 marks, and for each wrong answer, 1 mark is reduced.
  • No negative marking scheme is applied for the numerical value filing questions.

Note: Section B contains 10 questions, out of which 5 must be attempted.

JEE Main Paper (B.Plan) Exam Pattern

  • B.Plan of JEE Main 2021 is regulated to provide admission into undergraduate planning courses.
  • The exam shall be supervised via CBT online mode only.
  • The question paper covers questions from 3 subjects– Mathematics, Aptitude test and planning based objective type MCQs.
  • Section A comprises Multiple Choice questions & Section B comprises numerical value filling questions.
  • A total of 105 questions shall be divided in the below format:

  • In mathematics, 20 questions shall be in multiple-choice format & 10 questions shall be in numerical value filling format.
  • The exam duration is 3 hours and 4 hours for candidates with 40% disability.
  • The medium of the question paper is available in Assamese, Bengali, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu in addition to Hindi, English and Gujarati.
