JEE Main 2021: JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) is a popular national level examination conducted every year. JEE Main 2021 Eligibility Criteria
All candidates need to follow the eligibility criteria before applying. The conditions are explained in detail below:
- Nationality: Indian citizens and international applicants can apply. For international students, statement of marks/percentage provided by AIU needs to be obtained compulsorily.
- Age Limit: There is no restriction on age for applicants.
- Number of Attempts: There is ‘No’ restriction on the number of attempts.
- Educational Qualification:
- Candidate should have successfully cleared class 12th from a recognised university.
- Candidates attempting their class 12th exam in 2021 are eligible.
- Candidates who have passed their class 12th or equivalent exam in 2019, 2020 irrespective of their age can apply too.
- Apart from basic age limit criteria, candidates should satisfy age criteria prescribed by the respective institution where the candidate wishes to seek admission.
- Candidates who have passed 12th exam in 2018 or before and willing to attempt JEE Main in 2021 are not eligible.
- Candidates having diploma qualification can apply for admission into IITs.
- Qualifying Subjects:
- For BE/B.Tech and B.Arch: Candidate should have studied Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry as compulsory subjects in class 12th.
- For B.Plan: Candidate should have studied Mathematics as a compulsory subject in class 12th.
Secondary Eligibility [For Participating Institutions]
- Through the CSAB [Central Seat Allotment Board] selection process, IITs, NITs, CFTIs and other institutes consider the All India Ranking of the candidate. Candidate should have also secured 75% [in case of General Merit], and 65% [for SC/ST] or should be amongst the top 20 percentile in class 12th.
- For admission into B.Arch at IITs, NITs, CFTIs and other institutes, a candidate should have secured minimum 50% aggregate in qualifying exam as well as PCM subjects.
Eligibility Based on Candidate’s Domicile State
- During registration, candidates are requested to fill the state code. This code belongs to the state where the candidate completed his class 12th from.
- State code does not depend on the residential state of the candidate.
- For an Indian national candidate who has appeared for his 10th exams from a location other than India, state code depends upon the permanent address he has entered.
JEE Main 2021 Application Form
Details regarding application form for JEE Main 2021 is discussed below:
- Starting from December 2020, the application process would be formally initiated for the January session in the online mode.
- Candidates can register for the exam through NTA website.
- Candidates can begin registration for April session from February 2021 onwards.
- Candidates have to register themselves by providing valid credentials like contact details, e-mail ID and phone number.
- Multiple application submissions shall be rejected. Only one application per candidate should be made.
- The registration process follows this procedure – candidate registration, entering details in the application form, uploading documents, paying an application fee, submission and taking print out of submitted form.
- After successful form submission, candidates receive an acknowledgement in the form of SMS or e-mail.
- Candidates are requested to take hard copy prints of their submitted form and fee paid receipts.
Application Fee
Application fee should be paid ONLY in the ONLINE MODE. There is no offline mode of fee payment. Fees can be paid through net banking, credit card, and debit card, UPI or PAYTM. Fees break up details are tabulated below:

JEE Main 2021 Exam Pattern
Candidates must understand the exam pattern completely to take up the entrance test. Read this section for complete details:
- Mode of Exam: ONLINE CBT [Computer Based Test]. For B.Arch paper 2 (Drawing Test) shall be held in the OFFLINE mode.
- Exam Duration: Total Duration – 3 hours. For persons with 40% and greater disabilities, 1 HOUR EXTRA shall be allotted.
- Medium of Instruction: English and Hindi. For exam centres in Gujarat, Daman & Diu, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, candidates can attempt papers in English, Hindi and Gujarati.
- Papers: For B.E/B.Tech – JEE Main Paper-I. For B.Arch and B.Planning – JEE Main Paper-II and JEE Main Paper-III
- Type of Questions: Objective type of questions. Answers could be deducted in numerical values for relevant questions. Drawing Test of JEE Main Paper-II – subjective type
- Number of Questions & Marks: JEE Main Paper-I will consist of 75 questions for 300 marks. JEE Main Paper-II will consist of 77 questions and Paper-III will have 100 questions. Both Paper-II & III is for 400 marks each.
- Answer Marking Scheme: For every correct answer – 4 marks. For every wrong answer, 1 mark will be deducted.

JEE Main 2021 Syllabus
Candidates have to prepare well in accordance with the syllabus to score well in the JEE Main exam. The fundamental concepts can be expected from grade 11th and 12th topics of CBSE syllabus. JEE Main 2021 Admit Card
- Candidates shall receive intimation of admit card availability on their e-mail Ids.
- Admit card for JEE Main exam [January] shall be available for download in the first week of December 2020 and for April session; it will be available during the third week of March 2021.
- Candidates can download the admit card from the website by entering their login details.
- Candidate’s details along with registration number, exam venue, address, exam duration and shift shall be indicated on the admit card.

JEE Main 2021 Answer Key
- Provisional answer keys shall be published by NTA after the exam, in the third week of January 2021.
- Candidates can download answer keys in PDF format.

JEE Main 2021 Result
- Results of JEE Main 2021 shall be published in last week of January and in last week of April 2021 for January and April sessions respectively.
