MahaDBT (Maharashtra Direct Benefits Transfer) – an online portal offering scholarships to various deserving students across the state of Maharashtra. The difference between this portal and the scholarship portals of other states is the enormous amount of grants offered by various departments across Maharashtra’s state government. The MahaDBT Portal has ensured the smooth and transparent implementation of this entire scholarship process, bringing in smooth cross-checking, verifying candidate details & information and crediting the selected candidate with the right scholarship amount. MahaDBT Scholarship Eligibility Criteria & Rewards

Candidates are now well versed with the scholarship names and numbers offered by different state government departments of Maharashtra. Social Justice and Special Assistance Scholarships

1. Government of India Post-Matric Scholarship

Eligibility

  • The annual income of the family should be less than 2.5 lakhs.
  • Only for SC students.
  • Domicile of the candidate should be Maharashtra.
  • Candidate should have minimum matric qualification.
  • Candidates can receive aid to apply for not more than two professional courses at one instance of time.

  • Candidates admitted to professional courses only need to apply.
  • Candidates should not be receiving any other kind of grant from the government.
  • Annual family income should be less than 2.5 lakhs.

4. Rajarshi Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj merit scholarship

Eligibility

  • No minimum income limit specified.
  • Only for SC/ST categories.
  • Candidates must be studying in 11th/12th standards only.
  • Candidate should have secured min—75 % in matric exam.

Benefits

  • INR 300 per month for 10 months for 2 years [ SC students who enroll in class 11th after scoring min. 75% in matric exam]
  • Government of India scholarship + Free ship

5. Post matric scholarship for persons with disabilities

Eligibility

  • Disability grade should be 40% and above.
  • Candidate should complete the course without interruption in between.
  • Domicile and place of study should be Maharashtra.
  • Medicine practitioners in post-graduation level also applicable.
  • Students pursuing open education/distance learning can also apply.
  • Hostel residents can apply for hostel fees payment too.

Directorate of Higher Education (DHE) Scholarships

1. Rajarshi Chhatrapati Shahu Shikshan shulk Shishyavrutti Scheme

Eligibility

  • Candidates whose domicile is Maharashtra/ Maharashtra border/Karnataka border can apply.
  • Annual income of the family shouldn’t exceed 8 lakhs
  • General category candidates are also permitted to apply.
  • Candidate shouldn’t have enrolled for any other government scholarship
  • Candidate should have good merit record. Gaps of more than 2 years shall not be entertained.

Benefits

  • 100% tuition fee waiver [for both govt and non-govt aided courses and parents annual income to be less than 2.5 lakhs]
  • 50% tuition fee waiver [for both govt and non-govt aided courses and parents annual income to be less than 8 lakhs]
  • Exam fee waiver for professional courses – 50%
  • Exam fee waiver for non-professional courses – 100%

2. Meritorious students scholarship scheme [Junior level]

Eligibility

  • Candidates studying in class 11th and 12th are eligible to apply.
  • Candidate should obtain an approval letter from DHE
  • Candidates who are natives of the state but currently studying outside can also apply.

Benefits

  • AMS junior level scholarship – INR 3000
  • AMS senior level scholarship – INR 7000

3. Educational concession scheme [for children of ex-servicemen]

Eligibility

  • Family of ex-servicemen [son/daughter/wife/widow] can apply
  • Candidate should be studying in government-aided colleges only.
  • Candidates who are natives of the state but currently studying outside cannot apply.

Benefits

  • College dress allowance + books allowance – INR 445

4. Eklavya Scholarship

Eligibility

  • Min. marks in arts should be 60% and in science should be 70%
  • Annual income of parents should not be more than 75000
  • Residents of Maharashtra only.
  • Should not be pursuing any job.
  • Only graduates in law/commerce are eligible.
  • Candidates who are natives of the state but currently studying outside cannot apply.

  • INR 5000 per month

5. Open merit scholarship by state government

Eligibility

  • Domicile should be Maharashtra only.
  • Class 12th should be a minimum of 60% and more.
  • Arts/science/commerce/law courses are allowed.
  • Candidates who are natives of the state but currently studying outside cannot apply.

6. Meritorious students scholarship [offered for subject specializations in Maths/Physics]

Eligibility

  • In class 12th, the candidate should have scored 60% in science/60% in maths.
  • Domicile should be Maharashtra only.
  • Candidates who are natives of the state but currently studying outside cannot apply.

  • INR 100 per month

7. Vidyaniketan scholarship offered by state government

Eligibility

  • At least 60% score in class 10th
  • Students should have studied 10th at government Vidyaniketan school only
  • Domicile should be Maharashtra only.
  • Candidates who are natives of the state but currently studying outside cannot apply.

  • INR 100 per month

8. Daxshina Adhichatra scholarship scheme by state government

Eligibility

  • Candidate should have pursued course from non-agricultural university only.
  • Domicile should be Maharashtra only.
  • Candidates who are natives of the state but currently studying outside cannot apply.

  • INR 250 per month

9. Research Adichatra scholarship by state government

Eligibility

  • Only postgraduate degree holders with a minimum 60% need to apply
  • Domicile should be Maharashtra only.
  • Candidates who are natives of the state but currently studying outside cannot apply.

  • INR 750 per month
  • INR 1000 per annum

10. Educational concession scheme for children of freedom fighters

Eligibility

  • Family of freedom fighters [son/daughter/wife/widow] can apply.
  • Domicile should be Maharashtra only.
  • Candidates who are natives of the state but currently studying outside cannot apply.

  • INR 50 per month [PG courses]
  • INR 60 per month [engineering courses]

Allowance for books

11. Jawaharlal Nehru university scholarships

Eligibility

  • Applicable to Maharashtra students who have pursued studies at JNU only ( both UG and PG courses)
  • Domicile should be Maharashtra only.

Benefits

  • INR 8000 per month
  • Additional INR 10,000 every year [extra]

12. Meritorious students scholarship scheme [senior level]

Eligibility

  • Class 11th/12th candidates can apply.
  • Domicile should be Maharashtra only.

Benefits

  • AMS junior level scholarship – up to INR 2300
  • AMS Senior level scholarship – up to INR 72000

13. Dr. Punjabrao Deshmukh Vasatigruh Nirvah Bhatta Yojana [DHE]

Eligibility

  • Domicile should be Maharashtra only.
  • Children of registered labourers can apply for professional courses
  • Annual income of the family should be less than 8 lakhs
  • Candidate should not be availing any other grants from govt.
  • Candidate should compulsorily attend and clear all exams.

Benefits

For professional courses:

  • INR 30,000 for 10 months [ students studying in MMRDA/PMRDA/ Aurangabad/Nagpur] and annual income of family less than 8 lakhs.
  • INR 10,000 for 10 months [ for those candidates whose parents annual income is less than 1 lakhs]

For non-professional courses

  • INR 2000 for 10 months [ for those candidates whose parents annual income is less than 1 lakhs]

Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) Scholarships

1. Rajarshi Chhatrapati Shahu Shikshan shulk Shishyavrutti scheme

Eligibility

  • Domicile should be Maharashtra only.
  • Candidate must be a bonafide student of professional/technical courses only
  • Candidates from deemed university not eligible
  • Admission of the candidate should be via CAP (centralized admission process)
  • 2 children of the family can avail benefits under this scheme provided they are not getting any other scholarship.
  • Total annual income should be less than 8 lakhs.
  • 50% attendance and a gap in studies that do not exceed more than two years is essential.

Benefits

  • 50% tuition fee waiver plus 50% exam fee waiver

2. Dr. Punjabrao Deshmukh Vasatigruh Nirvah Bhatta Yojana

Eligibility

  • Domicile should be Maharashtra only.
  • Candidate must be a bonafide student of professional/technical courses only
  • Candidates from deemed university not eligible
  • Admission of the candidate should be via CAP (centralized admission process)
  • 2 children of the family can avail benefits under this scheme provided they are not getting any other scholarship.
  • Total annual income should be less than 8 lakhs.
  • 50% attendance and a gap in studies that do not exceed more than two years is essential.

For students whose parents are registered labours

  • INR 30,000 for students studying in MMRDA/ PMRDA/Aurangabad/Nagpur cities – for 10 months
  • INR 20,000 for 10 months – for students in other cities

For other students in general

  • INR 10,000 for students studying in MMRDA/ PMRDA/Aurangabad/Nagpur cities – for 10 months
  • INR 8000 for 10 months – for students in other cities

VJNT, OBC, and SBC Welfare Department Scholarships

1. Post matric scholarship for VJNT students

Eligibility

  • Course should be govt approved only.
  • Family income to be less than 1 lakhs per annum
  • Enrolment into the course should be via CAP only
  • 75% attendance in academic year mandatory

  • Group B – INR 290/INR 190

2. Tuition fee and exam fee waiver scheme for VJNT students

Eligibility

  • Domicile to be Maharashtra state only
  • Annual family income to be less than 8 lakhs
  • Health science/agriculture/animal husbandry/dairy development/fisheries and allied courses permitted.
  • Candidates must be studying in unaided/aided government technical colleges

Benefits

  • 100% tuition and exam fee waiver

3. Maintenance allowance for VJNT and SBC students [for students pursuing professional courses and staying in hostels affiliated with their professional college]

Eligibility

  • Candidate to be admitted in hostels attached with respective colleges
  • Not applicable if candidate get hostel facility at govt college
  • Courses like engineering/medical/veterinary/architecture etc. courses are permitted.
  • The annual income of the family to be less than 1 lakhs

Benefits

  • For the entire course period, a stipend of INR 700 per month

4. Rajarshi Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj Merit scholarship scheme [for students of 11th and 12th standard, belonging to VJNT and SBC categories only]

Eligibility

  • Candidates to be from one of these communities only – Vimukta Jatis/nomadic tribes/special backward classes etc.
  • 11th and 12th class students can apply.
  • No upper cap on annual family income
  • Study gaps not entertained
  • Domicile of Maharashtra only

School Education and Sports Department Scholarships

1. Open Merit Scholarships [Junior college level]

Eligibility

  • Open to class 11th and 12th students only
  • Min. 60% scores to be attained in matric exam

Benefits

  • INR 50 per month for 10 months

2. Merit scholarship [for EBC students]

Eligibility

  • Min 50% marks in matric exam essential
  • Students to attempt and clear exam in the 1st attempt only

Benefits

  • INR 140 per month for 10 months [for male candidates]
  • INR 80 per month [non-hostel residents]
  • INR 160 per month [hosteller female candidates]

Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DMER) Scholarships

1. Rajarshi Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj fee reimbursement scheme

Eligibility

  • For MBBS/BDS similar courses
  • Annual family income to be less than 8 lakhs

Benefits

  • Fee reimbursement – up to 50%

2. Dr. Punjabrao Deshmukh hostel maintenance allowance scheme

Eligibility

  • Annual income to be less than 8 lakhs
  • Candidates’ parents to be labours (registered)
  • Candidates who have sought admission in cities like Mumbai/Pune/Aurangabad/Nagpur etc. are eligible
  • Courses approved are MBBS, BDS, BAMS, and BHMS.

Benefits

  • Hostel maintenance allowance – INR 3000 [ for students doing courses in Mumbai/Pune/Nagpur/Aurangabad]
  • Hostel maintenance allowance – INR 2000 [ for students doing courses in other locations]
  • INR 30,000 grant amount [students whose parents are registered labours. Students doing courses in Mumbai/Pune/Nagpur/Aurangabad only]

Minority Development Department Scholarships

1. State Minority scholarship [Part 2 – DHE]

Eligibility

  • Graduates/postgraduates in courses from streams such as arts/science/commerce/science/law and education related courses.
  • Domicile to be Maharashtra only.
  • Bonafide student certificate for joining professional/technical courses required
  • CAP course allotment scheme to be followed by the candidate
  • No other stipend scheme to be availed by the candidate
  • Family income to be less than 8 lakhs

  • Scholarship amount – INR 5000

2. Minority scholarship scheme for students pursuing higher and professional courses [DTE]

Eligibility

  • Domicile to be Maharashtra only
  • Bonafide student certificate for joining professional/technical courses required
  • CAP course allotment scheme to be followed by the candidate
  • No other stipend scheme to be availed by the candidate
  • Family income to be less than 8 lakhs
  • Candidate should have cleared SSC/matric exam.

  • Scholarship amount – INR 25000

3. Minority scholarship scheme for students pursuing higher and professional courses [DMER]

Eligibility

  • Students studying in medical courses like MBBS/BDS/BAMS/etc
  • Candidates to be pursuing these courses from university of health sciences, Nasik
  • Annual income of family to be less than 8 lakhs
  • Female candidates entitled to 30% reservation and male candidates 70% reservation
  • Domicile to be Maharashtra only

  • Course fee waiver – INR 25000

MahaDBT 2021 Registration – Step by Step Process

All students should apply via the online portal on the MahaDBT website while applying for the scholarship. Also, candidates compulsorily should hold an Aadhaar number while applying for this scholarship. The online application forms for the year 2020-2021 shall be accepted until the date of March 31, 2021 (applicable for DTE, DHE, and DMER departments only). All candidates must follow the instructions carefully and go through the guidelines before applying for the various schemes. The detailed application form procedure is given below:

  • Enter the homepage of the official website – mahadbtmahait.gov.in
  • The first section involves ‘NEW USER REGISTRATION.’
  • Click on new applicant registration to register yourself on the website.
  • Provide a valid Aadhaar number.
  • Login into the website and validate your Aadhaar number. (OTP method/biometric method etc)
  • Check whether UIDAI authentication of your Aadhaar number is done.
  • IF done successfully, then all your details shall be drawn from the authorities and filled in relevant spaces in the application form. [Personal details/ contact details/bank details etc. will be filled automatically once Aadhaar number gets validated].
  • If validation not successful, check for correctness of number and re-try.
  • Visit the dashboard area where you will find a list of scholarships.
  • Read through the conditions of scholarships and choose the appropriate scheme.
  • Fill all the required details in this form again.
  • Upload scanned documents of correct size and specification.
  • Click on the SUBMIT button.
  • Save the submitted application form for future reference.
