500+ Words Essay on My House
A lot of people fail to realize that having a safe place of shelter is a luxury for millions in poverty. Having a place to call home happily is a blessing that we must understand the value of. We often complain about not getting other luxuries, regardless of whether we’ve earned our way up to them or not.
Homes are places that provide an area to sleep, eat, and maintain personal hygiene comfortably. As a result, these basic needs to survive become difficult for those who are homeless or are forced to live in crowded shelters for people like them. I, for one, would consider it wonderful that I am surrounded by four protective walls wherever I decide to step foot in a world as dangerous and formidable as our own.
People live in many different kinds of houses. As for me, I usually live in an apartment on the top floor of a building in the middle of the city. As I live in the heart of my city, it is often bustling with crowds of busy people trying to get to work, get back home, or spend some time with their friends and family. Since I live on the top floor, I am lucky enough not to be disturbed by street sounds like honking, traffic, and roaring motorcycles.
My apartment has three bedrooms – one for me and my brother, another for guests, and a third for my parents. It also has a single kitchen, a living room, multiple bathrooms, a balcony, and a long hallway connecting all these rooms.
As someone who has shifted houses multiple times in several years, it can be difficult to develop a strong attachment to a house. Nevertheless, my favourite aspects of the apartment would definitely be the large windows in my room. Two of the four walls of my room mainly consist of windows, which allows plenty of sunlight to enter and gives me a gorgeous view of the sunset in the evening.
I also love the balcony in my home- it’s attached to the kitchen and is filled with many different kinds of plants, some of which even have beautiful flowers. The balcony is also an excellent viewing spot to stand and stare at the sun dip below a sea of tall buildings.
It is beautiful to watch and is also very inspirational to me as I write a lot of poetry. I consider my home to be a wonderful place to relax and wind down after a long day of work. It is the place where I spend the most time with my family, and I value the fun we have together.
Houses For Everyone
Around the world and even in different parts of a town, city or village, people live in different kinds of homes. Most homes tend to be in the form of buildings- these are either houses or apartments. They can be made of wood, brick, and several other materials depending on the location of the home. This is influenced mainly by the kind of resources the place has available.
However, not all homes are fixed. Some houses are portable and can be shifted around depending on the need of the people living in them. Many people live in mobile homes, houseboats, tents, and campervans. The mobility is useful for people who don’t want to live in a single place and prefer a cheaper means of travelling as well as of living.
Some people do not have homes of their own due to financial as well as personal reasons and instead live in larger houses with others in the same situation. Some of these include childcare institutions, orphanages, convents, and retirement homes.
Similarly, people who can barely afford a home for themselves and their families tend to live in shacks, which, when clumped together, form slums. A good example would be the Dharavi slum in Mumbai, which is known as one of the biggest slums in the entire world.
On the other hand, some people are forced to live on the street or find small, unhygienic places to survive. Their stories are often documented in media, such as in movies like Parasite, which addresses the gap between rich and poor and how desperate the poor are for basic necessities, such as a home. However, despite the significant media coverage and attempts to help the homeless, the numbers of such individuals and families continue to grow in sheer numbers.
Having a home is a privilege considering the state of the gap between rich and poor in the society we live in. We must never hesitate to help homeless people in need – we can be of assistance by doing the simplest of things, like giving them some food to eat or water to drink. It isn’t always possible to share your home with someone else, but if one is capable of helping them live in better conditions, then they should definitely take those steps.
Moreover, houses come in several different shapes and forms – they can even be on the water, like houseboats. A house can be furnished or be filled with all the most luxurious and latest amenities. And yet, none of these factors determines what makes a house a home – a home is one where the individual feels at peace, where they can enjoy their time with the people they love and live for.
