February 19, 2021 by Era

Cows, also known as ruminants, are four-legged terrestrial animals. They have two horns, one long tail, and their soft skin with or without fur. They are mammals and give birth to calves. Cows are often referred to as ‘mother’ as they provide human beings with irreplaceable commodities.

Below we have provided short and long paragraphs on cow in English, written in easy and simple words for class 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 & 6 school students.

Cows are milk-producing domestic animals. They are social and mild in nature. They walk on four legs and have two horns and a tail. In some cases, cows are hornless as well. Baby cows are known as calves. Not all cows have the same colour. Some are black, some red, and some are white, with black spots. Cows provide us with milk. Without milk, we wouldn’t have dairy products like ghee, cheese and butter.

In addition to that, the hide of cows is used to make belts. Cows’ skin is also used to make things like bags, combs and shoes. Cows are herbivores, and they usually feed on grass. Cow dung is extremely useful for agricultural purposes. Cows also graze on farmers’ fields and get rid of unwanted plants or weed. Cows are the most beneficial animals to man, and without them, man will be deprived of a lot of nutritious and useful items.

Cows are considered sacred by Hindus. They often call them ‘Gau Mata’. Hindu mythology depicts Lord Shiva riding on his bull-Nandi. Modern cow protection groups known as ‘Gau Rakshaks’ (Protectors of the cow) have popped up, who have taken upon themselves to prevent the untimely and unnecessary slaughter of cows. Actions are being taken to rescue the large number of stray cows roaming in India’s streets.

Cows are like mothers looking after people by providing them with the nutrition they need. The Prevention of Cruelty to Animals of 2017 has ruled in favour of cows, rendering a considerable decline in cow meat and skin sales impacting various families businesses all across India.
