Save Earth Essay in 500 Words
Earth is the only planet which germinates life in the entire ecosystem. It is the third planet from the Sun known to encompass required resources for life sustenance and harbours life because of the presence of oxygen.
Earth inhibits ecosystems which are also termed as biosphere accommodating human beings, plants and trees, animals etc. We even call Earth as Mother Nature as it nourishes, takes care and supports life.
Humans, on the other hand, have taken this privilege for granted and are on a spree to sabotage its crucial elements. The exploitation of resources has caused Earth to collapse. In the words of Mahatma Gandhi, ‘Nature has enough for human’s needs but not for greed’.
The root cause of the problem includes exponential growth in population, technology, poverty and consumption choices and activities like intense farming, industrial production, discharge of pollutants into the water bodies and unplanned urbanization.
Moreover, lack of environmental policies, sloppy conservation methods and lack of clarity have resulted into a menace. The problems have turned into grave issues which need to be addressed by combined and consistent efforts.
Population: The root cause of the problem is the population which is proliferating, thus crippling our economy and creating uncontrolled demand. Resources are limited, and the population explosion causes over-consumption. In such causes supply is less and need is more.
Pollution: The four evil causes that lead to deterioration are water, air, soil and noise pollution. Unplanned urbanization is a byproduct of pollution as the discharge of sewage into water bodies is unorganized and unmethodical.
Industries and factories release a large number of pollutants into the water bodies without caring for the marine life. The widespread of plastic and its usage has affected the ecosystem to a massive level. Excessive farming, tilling of land and floods wash away the fertile soil leaving behind unfertile and bad quality soil.
In recent years, the concept of sustainable developments has gained ground which emphasizes meeting the needs of everyone without damaging the environment. The essence of the idea lies in the development of a stable and harmonious relationship between human activities and nature.
Also, it further states that livelihood can be restored without diminishing the prospects for the future generation. The sustainable concept that we can follow and incorporate in our daily life to save Earth is:
Save Water: Water is life without which existence is unfeasible. Only a few percent of water is left for consumption. Therefore it is necessary to use it wisely. Instead of a shower, we can switch to taking a bath with a bucket. While brushing teeth, the tap water should be turned off. Any leakage in the toilet or bathroom should be fixed immediately. Water used for washing vegetables and fruits should be reused to water plants and trees. Rainwater harvesting needs to be practised on to ensure pool is reserved during scarcity.
Plant Trees: Planting trees increases the supply of oxygen and maintains the stability of the climate. They are a vital component as they regulate life. Forest should not be cut for housing and industrial purpose.
Reduce Pollution: Carpooling needs to be adopted as and when required. For short distances, walking and bicycle should be preferred. Public transport is the best method to reduce air pollution. We can switch off lights and fan when not required. Plastic usage should be minimal. Eating organic food ensures less utilization of pesticides and chemicals.
Reduce, Reuse and Recycle: Follow the three ‘R’s’ to conserve our natural resources. Every individual should volunteer for cleanups in our community. A collaborative effort needs to integrate to spread awareness among the masses so that the people get clarity. Furthermore, while shopping, we should carry a reusable or cloth bag.
Considering the factors that are detrimental to the planet, it will be worthwhile to earnestly devolve on the issue so that environmental concerns do not impinge upon life. It is paramount to formulate a policy regarding the protection of Earth.
The causes of Earth’s degradation are found to have a dichotomous impact on the environment. Mere plan or objectives to save our planet won’t suffice. It requires deliberate efforts and systematic approach to achieving the goals. Environmental science and protection should form an integral part of Schools and colleges.
Students should be taken to field trips so that they feel the beauty of nature. Hence it is essential on the part of the government and humankind to conserve and care for our Mother Nature. If we want to see more green, then we need to embrace the greener approach.
Essay on Save Earth in 250 Words
Earth is the most precious planet in our entire universe as it holds crucial things like oxygen and water for survival. We have even named Earth as Mother Nature as it is a provider of necessary resources for the continuation and existence.
Due to the misdeeds of human beings, the conditions on the planet are worsening day by day. The activities performed by humans have jeopardised Earth, making our environment unhealthy for living.
Earth Day is celebrated every year on April 22, but nobody heeds to the call and urgent need of conserving it. People just follow the trend and observe it for the sake of celebrating.
There are various causes that lead to environmental degradation. Population and poverty are at the apex to cause more problems. More people means excessive consumption and if needs are not met then resulting in poverty and malnutrition.
Another factor that creates a massive negative impact on the environment is all types of pollution. Smoke coming out of factory chimney or vehicles, use of CFC’s daily, burning of fossil fuels, forest fire etc. cause air pollution.
Furthermore, discharge of pollutants into the water bodies, bathing animals in the water, defecating near the water bodies and releasing sewage is causing water pollution. Then, excessive farming, tilling of land, using pesticides and chemicals cause soil pollution. Lastly, playing loud music during processions, car honking and machines noise in factories creating noise pollution.
The awareness of the problems exists, but the efforts to eliminate them are negligible. It is an urgent call to maintain the stability of Earth to ensure sustenance. The sustainable approach needs to be adopted to conserve our ecosystem.
Not only humans but animals too are suffering and are at a significant loss. The whole food chain is disrupted, thus creating imbalance. The government should formulate national environmental policy in order to save Earth.
Every individual should volunteer and strive to reduce environmental degradation. Protecting Earth should not be a pipedream but a reality.
