Oxygen is utilized for the respiration of most living organisms. Trees also happen to be our primary source of food and shelter. They are the humble abode for thousands of species. Trees can help to protect us from natural calamities. Larger trees are more beneficial than the smaller ones. They filter the greenhouse gases at a much faster rate. Reductions of energy, catching storm-water, fighting heat, providing shade are some of their attributes. They fight climate changes and make our surrounding air suitable for breathing.
They filter out the odour and the pollutants. Trees are natural air conditioners. They slow down the evaporation rate, which helps conserve water. Trees also act as natural filters for maintaining a clean underground water table. Cutting trees means we are endangering these species. Some of these species have lost their natural habitat and are now extinct.
Our ecosystem needs to be saved. Destructive activities like deforestation for satisfying the needs of the urban population need to stop. Expansion of cities, building recreational areas for man, construction of structures, industrial activities are a few examples of the threat to trees. Pollution needs to be reduced. Forests must be protected if we want to live long and healthy.
