Good morning to one & all present here. Today I am here to share my thoughts on Swami Vivekananda. Swami Vivekananda was a scholar, writer & a great philosopher. He was an extraordinary personality with spiritual thoughts. His human sympathy, immense knowledge & diverse character made him adorable in all over the world. He was a path of enlightening for a lot of people & he is still inspiring every one of us by the thoughts he shared.

Swami Vivekanand was born on 12th January 1863 at Kolkata. His original name was Narendranath. His father name was Vishwanath Dutta & he was a successful lawyer in the supreme court of Kolkata. His mother mostly influenced him as she played an essential role in shaping his character. She was his first teacher who introduced him to English & Bengali alphabets. His whole family was spiritually inclined, which had a significant impact on his upbringing.

Narendranath did his schooling from an institute founded by Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar 1870, in which bodybuilding was also focused except studies. He had a deep patriotic feeling for his motherland & mother language. He even denied learning English in school but later on continued because it was a compulsion. He stood first in his matriculation & joined Presidency College for his masters in Philosophy.

He got to know about Shri Ramakrishna Paramahansa by one of his relatives. One day he met him in his neighbourhood & Shri Ramakrishna was also attracted towards the singing talent of Naren. Initially, for a few days, Shri Ramakrishna did not allow Naren to leave his side & kept giving him advice & knowledge. The two of them used to have a great discussion when they were alone. Naren was always eager to meet God & his guru made him realise that we can also see God by serving humanity.

He became the most dedicated discipline of the saint. Shri Ramakrishna initiated Narendranath on the path of Sanyas & gave him the name Swami Vivekananda. Swami Vivekananda, along with his other disciplines, established the Ramakrishna Mission in 1897 after the death of Shri Ramakrishna Paramahansa. It began its activities in Varahnagar near Kolkata. This mission worked for the help of needy & poor people. Swami Vivekananda also visited America to participate in the parliament of world religion in 1893.

He explained the world that God is a big sea & all religions are live rivers ultimately merging into the sea. He was appreciated a lot for his thoughts & many people joined Ramakrishna Mission. Swamiji left a significant impact on Indian socio-cultural tradition. His teachings were based on Vedas & Upanishads. He was also a great follower of Vedanta. He was a great source of energy & motivation. He had an in-depth knowledge of Indian religion & philosophy. He believed that we could only serve God by serving humanity around us.

He believed that education is the key to a better society & is vital for the flourishing of the nation. For him, every single soul was divine & the sole aim should be channelised this divinity within by controlling external & internal nature. He died in 4th July in 1902. Swami Vivekananda was not only an inspiration in India but in the whole world. He is a source of knowledge for all of us. His letters will always be written in golden words. We all must try to inculcate his knowledge in our life. We also must try to become a better person day by day. We all must understand that serving humanity is serving God.

Thank You!
