TNEA 2021 Eligibility Criteria must be referred by the candidates before applying through the form for admission. TNEA, a state-level admission procedure, is administered to offer admission in institutions situated in the Tamil Nadu state. Anna University supervises this procedure to provide admission for candidates into various B.E./B.Tech professional degree courses. TNEA 2021 Eligibility Criteria
Candidates can find the specifications of the entire eligibility criteria in this section before applying for the university’s preferred course and its affiliated colleges. If a candidate is found to have passed the qualifying exam or changed the religion post form submission, then his/her form shall be discarded. TNEA 2021 Application Form shall be issued from the 1st week of May 2021. It is possible to get the form via online mode only.
Nativity Criteria
- Candidates who have completed VIII, IX, X, XII and XII grades from Tamil Nadu state can apply.
- They need not submit the Nativity certificate.
- Candidates who have completed their VII, IX, X, XII, XII and equivalent exam from anywhere outside Tamil Nadu state can apply.
- They need to submit a copy of the Nativity Certificate in electronic form/digitally signed e-signed certificate.
- Candidates whose parents are Central Government Employees can apply irrespective of their nativity.
- The parents or guardians (if parents are deceased) of these candidates working in Tamil Nadu whose work experience is at least five years by the time of application submission.
- Candidates falling under this category must produce the certificate from the employer of the parents/guardian.
- Candidates whose parents are Public Sector or Government recognized Institutions employees having a work experience of at least five years in TN are eligible to apply irrespective of their residence.
- Candidates falling under this category must produce proof of it, such as the Income Tax Return, PF Slips, etc.
- Candidates whose parents are All India Service Tamil Nadu cadre officers can also apply.
- Candidates who have completed VIII, IX, X, XII and XII grades from TN state can also apply.
- They need not submit the Nativity certificate.
Srilankan Tamil Refugee
- Srilankan Tamil Refugee and those who completed education in Tamil Nadu are eligible to apply, and they shall be listed under open competition.
- These candidates need to submit the below-mentioned documents:
- Identification certificate from Head Quarters Tehsildar.
- Those who have not enrolled under refugee camp have to produce a copy of their passport, Visa and letter filed with
the Police Station.
Qualifying Exam
Refer to this section to know the qualification eligibility requirements to apply for the course:
- Qualifying Exam: Must clear the HSC (10+2) or equivalent examination from an acknowledged board.
- Minimum Marks: General category candidates must secure an aggregate of 45%, 40% for the backward class, including backward class Muslim, 40% for MBC & DNC and 40% for SC/ST/SCA).
- Subjects: Must clear the qualifying exam securing the minimum average required marks in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry collectively.
- A minimum average mark is also required to be scored in associated subjects, Vocational Theory and Practicals collectively.
Eligibility for Marine Engineering Branch
- Must clear 10+2 or equivalent examination, having mandatory subjects namely Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics with an additional subject English, securing an aggregate of at least 60% in PCM taken together.
- An aggregate of 50% marks is needed to be scored in English in 10th or 12th.
- Candidates need to be medically fit before applying for the course.
Other Eligibilities for Marine Engineering
- Applying candidate must be at least 25 years old.
- The minimum height required is 157 cm.
- The minimum weight required is 48 kg.
- Normal colour vision is required.
