Essay on Value of Time 500 Words in English

Below we have provided Value of Time Essay in English, suitable for class 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 & 10.

A man who dares to waste one hour of time has not discovered the value of life- Charles Darwin.

Time is the most precious thing in our lives. Nothing else can be compared with it. It refers to the infinite stride of events that occur in our world. Time covers the past, the present, and the future. Our present becomes our past eventually. No other entity can command or win against time. It is a limited resource that does not wait for anything or anyone. Once we lose a moment, it is gone for good.

The power of time has no bounds. People often say Time and Tide wait for none. Just like an ebbing tide (which comes and goes on its will), time moves forward at its own pace. It does not care about our sentiments. A princess and a beggar are equal in the eyes of time. All things are born, grown, and decayed with time. One minute is all it takes to mark a difference between our life and death. Hence, we need to value time.

Why is Time Valuable?

Our history witnessed a lot of rulers having different personalities. Some of these kings felt invincible as they thought the world belongs to them. However, they never realized that one day their reign would come to an end. And the power that they enjoyed at the moment would turn into dust. They thought they could battle time. It has the potential to take away everything that you care for. Such is the power of time.

Story that justifies the Importance of Time

There was a person who worked hard for a long time. His skills and determination helped him gather a lot of riches. He was successful in his career. One fine day, he decided to take a break from all his work and live luxuriously. After all, he could afford almost everything because of his wealth. One day of rest turned into another. He loved how he could spend his time doing nothing. To his surprise, he was soon visited by an angel of death. Being wealthy, he thought he could buy some more time from the angel.

He bargained for a while, but the angel refused every time. He was so desperate that he proposed a deal. He asked if he could get just an hour of his life so that he could admire the beauty of this earth. He wanted to spend some time with his family and friends, whom he hadn’t seen for a long while. In return, he was ready to give all his wealth to the angel. However, the angel refused again.

Finally, feeling heartbroken, the man asked if he could at least have a minute to write a goodbye note. The angel granted him his last one minute. And the man began to write: “Spend your time in the right way. I could not even buy an hour of my life with all of my accumulated wealth. Seek valuable things. Care for your friends and family. Cherish each moment of your life as it might be the last one you get.”

Life is unpredictable. This story proves this fact. It highlights that wealth cannot buy you happiness. And that it certainly would not buy you more time.

Conclusion

A person who is careless enough to waste time suffers in the long run. Life is short, and it is filled with moments. No one gets a second chance to rectify a mistake of his/her past. Thus, we must make each of these moments count. Effectively utilizing our time will not only help us but also help our beloved. Moreover, society will get benefited from it.
