Essay on Where There is a Will There is a Way

Below we have provided ‘Where There is a Will There is a Way’ Essay in English, suitable for class 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 & 8.

One of the most heard sayings of English includes the proverb – Where there is a will there is a way. Although it is quite familiar to us, yet only a few of us understand its purpose and abide by it. This saying holds a deep meaning in all our lives. It teaches us that if we have the determination to do something, we can achieve it.

There are no bounds to the ambitions and desires of a person. However, not all of them are fulfilled. This is because of the lack of will power. Man can conquer everything if he sets his mind upon it. He just needs to find the will to do so. Strong will power can help you battle against all the odds when you find yourself stuck in a difficult situation. The power of will cannot be overlooked. It has the potential to change people’s lives.

Importance of the Proverb – Where There is a Will, There is a Way

This proverb is important because it encourages us to push beyond our limits. It tells us not to give up and continue working until we succeed. We learn to stay determined and focused to achieve our goals. Further, it highlights that hard work can make a huge difference.

You cannot just dream big and not put any effort to make it come true. One needs to understand that hard work, discipline, dedication and will power all are equally important. You will eventually fail if you work half-heartedly. However, you will be unstoppable if you can withstand your failures and keep on working on your will.

Our history has marked the existence of great personalities who fulfilled their biggest dreams. Time and again, they were challenged with all kinds of hurdles. And in the long run, will power made them accomplish all their aims.

Real Life Examples

History is filled with brilliant examples of how people who had strong will power attain great heights. Their resolution helped them acquire the unthinkable. Abraham Lincoln’s story tells us how a common man from a log cabin could work his way up to being one of the greatest presidents. When he was a boy, he could not attend the classes. Rather than cursing his fate, he made sure to read books whenever he got the chance to. His strength of character and courage made him the person he was.

Martin Luther King too was a great man. He brought back the civil rights to the black people of America. He was locked up in jail. However, this did not make him stop. He kept fighting, and his firm will power led to the end of racism. Likewise, the stories of Columbus and Mao Tsetung inspire us. Success is not ever-lasting. The thing that matters is how you have played the match, not whether you won or lost in the end.

Maharana Pratap marks Indian history by his resolute faith and iron will. He fought bravely against Akbar. Despite losing quite many times, he never surrendered to slavery. He protected Mewar till his last breath with his sustained efforts and unshakeable determination.

Next, we have the father of our nation, Mahatma Gandhi. He was indeed a legend of his own who related to this proverb. Though he was frail, his will power was much stronger. He was so rigid on the idea of freedom. He used Satyagraha, non-violence, and non-cooperation as weapons against the British Imperialism. And thanks to him we ultimately got free from the shackles of British rule.

Another great example is Sardar Patel, the iron-man of India. He was truly devoted to making India into an integrated country. It was because of his undying efforts that all our states came together and unified into a strong India. His will and determination to end racism procured fruitful results. It taught us that even in jail, he did not give up. He fought continuously to fulfill his dream.
