A very good evening to the beautiful ladies. I wish you all a Happy International Women’s Day. So we are here to celebrate a day for those lovely ladies of our life who have already marked our life with different roles, let it be of a mother, sister, wife, aunt or grandma. It is a global day celebrating the social, economic, political & cultural achievements of a woman. It is celebrated on the 8th of March every year, with the first gathering dated back to 1911.
I am glad to address all of you today who has undoubtedly contributed their part to our society. It is all of our responsibility to ensure gender equality, as all of us know that an equal world is an enabled world. In the past, there was a time in which women’s were deprived of their basic fundamental rights as the right to vote, education, economic independence, etc. They were thought to be made for household chores only. But with the passing time, the society has seen many changes & revolutions.
This generation has started recognising the capabilities, trust & values they can add to all our lives and society. Now women have begun stepping out of homes to show their abilities, but they are setting examples & making the world turn head towards them day by day. Females have imprinted their names with flying colours in every sector, such as astronomy, sports, administrative services, science & technology, teaching, entertainment, or entrepreneurship.
Chanda Kocchar is one of the most inspiring women leaders is the Managing director & CEO of ICICI bank is the youngest CEO & the first women to head ICICI. All of you must have heard about Indira Nooyi, who was listed among the first 100 powerful women of the world. She is an Indian Business executive & former CEO of PepsiCo. Now let us move to sports; the list of names are long Sania Mirza, Saina Nehwal, Hima Das, Dyuti Chand & so on. In every field, women have set a benchmark. They are always an inspiration for all of us.
Women empowerment & girl education are the two basic steps that the United Nations drive globally. Focus on reduction in violence & crimes against women are also a key subject of discussion everywhere. Many steps have been taken by the UN as well as our government for the same. However, the world starts with “I”. So let us rise & keep ourselves activated to transform the world around us. We all can help ourselves by investing in solutions, strengthening leadership, and building movements.
Let us recognise the significance of women & inspire them to be self-sufficient as they can also contribute to the world. I want to end my speech with a beautiful quote by Michele Obama. “There is no limit to what we, as women, can accomplish.”
Thank You!
